My hunting camo is specifically for that and only that. I have other clothing, some of which is camo but isn't for hunting. Was a good price. Coming from an outdoor profession I wear my work clothes when working around the farm. I change clothes before tracking.
Only reason I won't wear some of my hunting clothes is when I have a better option that isn't for hunting like my winter coat. None of my hunting jackets come close to its warmth. My base layer only cost me $28 for the tops and bottoms so if in need a new pair I will buy them. I walk every day all winter long so my boots will probably need preplacing after the mileage of the winter is put on them.
My "hunting clothing" is stored away ready for next season. I'll occasionally wear something camo that is not something I wear in the field.
I always wear my realtree motorcraft hat but the camo clothes get stored away for the summer. Only exception are my muck boots I wear whenever at the property.
I don't really practice much scent control,I personally don't believe you can beat their nose so I just play the wind to the extreme, pick my stand routes, chose my time to check cameras or freshen corn piles. So yeah I wear my hunting clothes doing other things.
No, I have a set for bowhunting a set for spring turkey and a set for firearms season. Each set is stored as a set and kept in a large zip lock bag all in a large plastic tote. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
I only wear my camo bibs and hunting boots when shoveling the driveway or working outside in the extreme cold since they are the warmest I have. Other than that I have a camo Under Armour hat that I occasionally wear, but usually only during hunting season.
I know I have issues I admit it and more than half of my prep is either overkill or a waste of time but playing the wind or carbon what ever you believe do you grasp the concept of Parts Per Million? Sure you can wash in scentless soap and that helps but have you ever spilled something on your good pair of jeans and put the presoak treatment on and washed in extra strength tide and all that and the stain was still there, mayby faded but still there. Works the same way with scent.
It's probably a bad thing that I wear my scent lok jacket many times after the season has ended... I wash it in scent free soap roughly once a week and store in scent free totes once season starts. Did not have a deer bust me this year. I'm just not as crazy as others when it comes to scent control practices... And probably one of the reasons I have not had a chance at a shooter buck the last 2 years. Oh well.
I do grasp the parts per million and the incredibly sensitive and superior nose of a deer compared to ours...scent control is an exercise in futility. Just my opinion based on experience having done and trying it all at some point.
Scent control should be the last reason why you don't wear camo when you are not hunting. The #1 reason is because you are an adult.
I see no issue with wearing camo outside of work. Why would you have a problem with someone wearing camo while not hunting... Not catching on here. A lot of people in our area wear camo regularly (not just hillbilly country boys either).
Jack our methods are different. The resident does and fawns on my property smell me pretty much 90% of days of the year. I intentionally leave my scent every trip in the woods. There is human scent in varrying degrees a deer will tolerate based on their experiences. No harm can from making every effort to minimize odor.
No mine goes straight into a air tight tote. I laugh when I see people out in a bar or restaurant in their camo because the story is always the same " haven't seen **** all year" while smoking.
Trial what is going on? the last couple days last couple of days you have been saying nothing but nice things about me. I appreciate it.
