Yes, I fully believe we'll have a SHTF situation within the next 50 yrs. I would bet its sooner rather than later too.
What about an EMP strike? That would knock out all communications and transportation in an instant. It would plunge us back into conditions comparable to 150 yrs ago. Chaos would definitely ensue

Not going to happen - although sometimes I think certain collapses of government or financial might start the change we need.

Sure a lot of pessimism these days, and rightfully so. Separation of classes and/or viewpoints - but I'm confident this is still the greatest country. Terrorist can make a splash - but our citizens bond quickly in times of need/panic. Support the 2nd amendment, our citizens are the largest army on planet earth - good luck causing harm on our turf for more than a day or so. I was so proud of how Law Enforcement handled the Boston bombings!
Our land mass is also too great for a natural disaster to impact everyone - yes an entire region could suffer, but the rest of us will come to their aid and take them in...and you might not have facebook for a few days:)

Quit believing the news and reading the newspaper, smile at a stranger...start in your own house, then neighborhood, then town to make things better...we'll get this ship straightened. The Good still FAR outweighs the bad in this country. Sure don't see many people trying to get out...

I guess it depends on what your definition of "progressing as a nation" is. It sounds like you are referring to it as the state of government. I was referring to it in terms of the mindset of the American people. The progressive mindset of Americans today alone could cause a crisis without the government but I do think the government could have a hand in it too. With unemployment and cost of living going up, things are in such bad shape, eventually there could be a breaking point when basic necessities will be too expensive to buy so people will start stealing and rioting. Personally, I'm almost wanting it to happen now rather than later. I couldn't bear to think of my daughter going through it on her own without me being there to protect her. We are due for a true up anyway, just about every nation has an internal fart every century.

Yes I think we are great but we have too many problems just to say we can smile away the problems. Terrorism, illegals, turmoil with 95% of the rest of the world. It's just a matter of time before something happens, what it will be is a mystery.

You said progressive government in your other reply so I thought that's what you were talking about.

Either way, all those things can happen no matter how the people or government progresses. But, both could also contribute to it.

Well both, yes. I couldn't agree more and I think the people and government feed off each other. Yeah, I kind of merged my thoughts and it turned into an explosion of blah. I don't always do a good job of putting thought to pen, err keyboard.

Since 2001 we have been attacked, gone to war twice, 4000+ have died of our troops, 100,000+ have died in these wars on the other side. Our economy nearly collapse, countless jobs were lost, countless homes were lost. Our government does not work anymore and Jeff got banned from this site.

    We're in the sh!t folks

I don't have an under ground bunker at my house but some land about 15 min away from me I have 3 above ground concrete bunkers and 2 log buildings that are camo netted.

17 million empty houses in the USA, but only about 8 million homeless people.
