My personal opinion is YES! As we can tell with the current Administration, he has NO clue to what he is doing.

I don't think it should be a necessity, I like the idea that any American is eligible to run.
The currant occupant knows exactly what he is doing, don't misunderstand the difference between ignorance and evil.

Preferred but not necessary. What IS necessary is a President who understands if he has no military experience, don't make military decisions...that's what you have Military Advisors for! No president can be expert in all things. He just needs to surround himself with those who are and be man enough to take their advice.

I want to honestly say yes, but there are still gonna be the ones out there with a service record and still have no clue what go do.

That is why he has advisors. It does not need to be required.

    No. It should't be required.

I don't think it's necessary, but without it they should at least bring something to the table in terms of leadership and experience. The current guy has neither.

The problem is that these Advisors are the Military's Top Generals, once you have reached the rank of General you are a politician of some sort. People don't understand that a General hasn't actually had hands on Troop experience for many years. Once you leave as a Captain (Company Commander) you no longer have this hands on experience. These Generals will say what the boss wants to hear to keep from being fired (politician written all over it), I've witnessed it to many times. I would prefer our POTUS have some type of military service (not being a General), they have to have experience understanding how Troops fight and that what ever decision they make has a direct impact on Troops on the ground. The Generals that the Military has produced in the last several years have no clue. So if these so called Advisors haven't had hands on Troop time in the last 20 years, he doesn't have a clue to what is really going on. Need a POTUS with recent on the ground experience, especially the fight that is going around the world now.

This is just a ways down the list of things that I think is important for a President. I'm sure most military people will disagree.

Ways down the list? Let's name a few things National Defense directly has or had direct influence on: National debt, jobs, home grown terrorism, 9/11, Home Land Security, Iran Nuclear Deal, Israel, North Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, Taliban,
Al Qaeda, ISIS, ISIL, Veterans Affairs. Do I need to name more? ND touches almost everything we have or will have.

Do you think the POTUS should have a college degree?

Nope, have witnessed a lot of folks with a degree that are jacked up like a chicken wire canoe. Plenty of smart folks out there without them.

There are also a lot of military folks that are "jacked up like a chicken wire canoe", so it's probably best to leave the current requirements alone.

I could say the same for military experience.

I've witnessed several jacked up military folks and most are weeded out for some reason or another. They would get vetted and called out on their military performance, can't hide it. Civilians can hide a lot of stuff, no record of their dirty deeds until they are already in office. That's my personal opinion.

I would rather the president have a solid business background rather than a military one

I'll go one step further and say a solid background in economics. You can be a successful businessman and not have a clue about the global economy. you definitely do NOT need someone who is an expert in strategic military studies.

Man that George bush guy was a genius. Eisenhower warned us about the military machine as did Kennedy. If you keep up with the f35 test pilot reports its a turd in a dog fight so cut are losses just like building tanks just to sit on a parking lot while are bridges and roads crumble.

As a country we can can vote all these people out of office and take back this country The Pen is Mightier then the sword still rings true.

Voting them out would be the easy part.. Finding a suitable replacement seems impossible these days...

We always get the same ole same ole career politicians that are pork tied and donor owned....

Is it any wonder Donald Trump is leading the polls!
