I know a bunch of guys who dont know how to tune, even just the basics. I have done some for them, tried encouraging them to learn,,,hell its fun IMO but usually they end up being just before the season shooters and have someone else look at rhere set ups.
If by chance a buddy hunts with me, on the family farm, you bet I'll tell them. There are ways to encourage guys you hunt with to shoot more, get them involved, without being a total jerk or shouting down from a soap box at them. As was stated before and I agree. I am in no position to tell another guy how he should practice or how often, etc. I know quite a few guys who pick the bow up a few weeks before season to practice and then kill a deer every year. Different strokes for different folks. Now myself, I can't put the bow down long enough!
I have two partners that are the same way. And I've tried and it never seemed to set in. I did accomplish the get one to put a sight on his 1970 compound that he shoots when he goes hunting. He missed 6 deer last season all at less then 15 yards. One doe gave him four shots!!!!!! I'm ocd about shooting and tuning even to the point of swapping arrows to maintain center shot. haven't had to do that in a while thank god for on target software. IMHO I would sit them down and ask them what their goal of hunting is. Do that want to kill big bucks? Are the commited to killing big bucks? If they are then I'd start teaching. If they rather just be away for the old lady and tell thier buddies they went hunting then leave it be. I almost got shunned from my father in laws house last year when I passed a 130 inch 2 1/2 year old on opening day ten minutes into the sit. But to each his own glad i did I had two 170's come within 70 yards of the same stand the next day. this year there was a couple trees that had to come down to redirect their path
