Do you still get the shakes when you see deer coming your way?

My heart pounds when I see a deer and I know I am going to shoot it if offered the opportunity. I prefer to have the deer come in so fast that I just go into kill mode and completely forget about shaking and being nervous. That is definately the way to go :)

My buck this year I had to watch come in from 150 yards and it took about 15 minutes for him to do it. That was straight up TORTURE!

My little brother just shot his first buck on Thanksgiving and after the shot I went over to him in the woods and the first thing he said to me is "I can't stop shaking". I told him that if you don't shake after something like this then you probably should be doing something else. He then said " its awesome, I love it!".

I shake like crazy if shooter buck is coming in...however the second I start to draw back I'm fine. I guess all the practice and muscle memory just zones in to how it should be till I release the arrow......than I'm Stan Potts on crack! haha!

I don't get the shakes but yes my heart pounds pretty good. I can't really every remember actually getting the shakes until maybe after the shot especially with my biggest buck.

I rarely get the shakes. Only time I can remember when I get the shakes is after I release the arrow.

My bow feels lighter when I'm nervous.

I don't get the shakes before. Too busy watching and waiting for the deer to give me a good shot if it wanders in range. I get a little excited when I first see them but the hunt is on after that. I focus at the task at hand.

I don't get the shakes after. Until I get my hands on them... I want to be level headed and pay attention to what is going on. I've seen guys become basket cases to the point of being dangerous ( rifles ). It's not for me.

The only time I can remember getting the shakes and a major case of buck fever was when my son shot his first deer with bow. I was sitting right beside him on the ground watching the whole thing unfold. I have never felt that on any animal I've ever killed or trapped. Excited... yes... a nervous, wreck of a basket case... no. Can't wait for Britty to start hunting so I can go through it again on her first !!!! LOL

I do still get the shakes, be it a doe or a buck I SHAKE.
In the past it was so bad that I have lost deer because of it, but these days I have learned to control it some what.

I hope that feeling never goes away.

I just proved myself right after last nights hunt that I'm getting worse. lol! I had a mid 120's 4.5 year old buck make his presence 1/2 hour before dark. I've saw him 4 times now this year. When I 1st saw him coming at 60 yards I was good and calm. By the time he reached 40 yards I started getting that feeling. He swung my direction like he was going to come straight on to me and the old legs started shaking some. He then turned again slightly and walked by me at 30 yards. I had to let him go as that's just too far. Yep, I'm getting worse In my age! :)

I hunt in the swamp of south Louisiana and when I hear a deer walking through the water I start shaking real bad until I see it. Once I see it I compose myself a little bit and get ready for the shot. After the shot the shakes start shaking and become numb sometimes to the point to where I have to do a little stretching haha

The other day I was hunting either a decent shooter buck or a doe. I had my 8 yr old son with me when we saw a deer maybe 100 yds out in the brush. We watched and my heart began pounding when I did not see horns. I thought it was a doe. A couple more steps and we finally were able to tell it was a scrub buck. Within a couple of seconds the heart rate returned to normal. I have given up on rifle hunting because there is no longer any excitement in the shot, but with a bow it seems I get excited every time I have the opportunity to shoot.

I get the shakes after the shot and especially if I connect...I'm cool with deer under me and surprising me...In fact its like they bring quiet to the woods when they appear. I love to watch them as much as I love to shoot them...Its part of the high I guess. I get shook up though if I get eye locked with one...then they bust me...In October I got eye locked with a basket 4 point that just looked up and noticed something unusual. I should have looked away but he caught me looking. It was a stare down for what seemed a life time...I shook so bad afterwards that my knees knocked.
