I would find it pretty awkward to set up a profile on one of the websites like match.com or similar, but have met girls on facebook and "met" them later, lol. That said, it's always a friend of a friend, not someone completely random. Met my current girlfriend at a high school party, while with my now ex. Took 4 years and a LOT of convincing once I was single again to finally start dating. Crazy how different relationships are once it's with someone you enjoy being with :D
I don't care how people meet. Just remember when you do a video chat that, "if they smoke, they poke." Rules to live by.

They didn't have internet back when I was dating. Blind dates were the thing. I had a buddy at work who was trying to set me up with his sister-in-law. He lived in a very,very small town so the direction to his place were... " Pull into town and find a green house with a dark yellow door light ". Sounded easy enough . I roll in about dark 30 and proceed to drive up and down the streets looking for a green house with a dark yellow door light. I find a house that fits the description and pull in. I shut the car off and open the door to get out. The house door opens and a big, real scary looking chick steps out and a whole ****load of dogs poured out. I shut the car door, start the car, back out and leave !!! I figure there better be another fricking green house with a dark yellow light or he is going to die when I get my hands on him at work the next day or if I find him that night. I find another green house with a yellow door light and no one is home. I am getting a little torqued. There is one street left that I haven't driven down. I was ready to scrap it but it gets the best of me so I head down that street. You heard the saying... 3 strikes and you are out... well I come to the 3rd green house with a dark yellow light. I stop the car and sit there for a bit. I geared up for strike 3 and got out of the car. My buddy comes walking around the house as I get to the door. He said... " I see you had no problem finding my house. " . I called him a jack ass and told him he needs to paint his house a different color and get rid of the damn dark yellow light !!! He smirks and says... " I see you must of met Shelly. ( scary one !! ) " and laughs his arse off. To this day I still hate green houses with dark yellow house lights. I did meet, date and marry his sister-in-law though. Been with Barb for 26 years now. :D Online dating can't be any worse then blind dates. Tim
Well my Brother did it and ended up Marrieing <<spelling) the girl. I told him he was a nut for even thinking of it sans she lived in PA and him Indiana. They were made for each other in the end. I was married befor there was such a thing
I met my wife online, Hotornot.com while I was deployed in Iraq back in 2003. Came back in 2004 got married. We talked for 8 months online, met for 13 days and on day 14 got married.
