It's tough. We don't have any natural predators for fawns that size and way too many deer here in MD. On the other hand, my buddy shot a doe on opening day that had fawns (he didn't see them at the time of the shot) and had to listen to them cry for almost two hours afterwards. We have such an early season and unlimited tags so I'd probably pass for a few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The question is, do you need to thin the does in your area? If so, then yes I would shoot her. The fawns likely will lose their spots by the time my season opens and they will be fine.
I thought I was the only one. I get a buck tag, and 2 buck/doe tag annually. So my doe tags are meat tags. So comparing meat..... That should be obvious.
yea.. the freezer is empty. i'm not going to be picky early season this year. we had a freezer go up and gave away most of the meat last year. going a year w/out much meat changes your perspective. filling the freezer is priority #1 right now.
I'm passing. I shot a doe with a small fawn (no spots) in 2012 and that deer hung around the whole time I field dressed the doe and drug it out. I guess I am getting soft in my old age because that really bothered me.
Fawns will be fine. I personally wouldn't but I think the fawns are old enough to be ok on there own.
Nope. I shot a doe with twins a few years ago (enough to not have spots), and they stayed in the area the whole time I was getting her out. One of them even laid down beside her after she fell. That made me feel like a real @ss.
Nope , not till later in the season . Early season , I'm looking for a 1.5 year old barren doe . Not only do they not have fawns to worry about but the hind quarters are perfect for smoking
I probably wouldn't shoot the doe but I'd definitely shoot one of the fawns if I felt like it that day. I understand that fawns can nutritionally survive at a very young age but they still have a lot to learn from the doe so I'd basically be doing her a favor by reducing the number of students in her classroom
No questions asked im shooting. if the fawns arnt spotted, im tagging that doe and attempting to shoot them when they come back.
I guess it would depend on the population of deer in your area. The genetics to produce triplets is definitely there, and if your population is low I would let her walk, if the population needs to be reduced I would definitely take her. Our population is good here, not too crowded and not too thin, so I would let her walk in hopes she throws some buck fawns, but that's just me. A lot of does with a single or even twins out there to choose from, but few have the health, genetics, and stamina to throw and feed a triple.
