Pretty much says it ... do you shoot a fawn when you know it is a fawn? If so, why. If not, why? No wrong answers here ... just curious ...

No, because I usually try for their mother.

No, because I have a kid and he deserves the best as do all God little creatures. But I would kill the mom and eat her infront of the fawn. Ninja Style of coarse, jussayn.

ONLY if it is a button buck...... because a buck is a buck and a real trophy when taken with a bow and arrow regardless of the number of gadgets/enhancements attached to it. If I am able to trick him and pull him off mother's milk long enough to come to bait, it's just that much more of a bonus!

I said no but thats because its young hasn't had time to grow and learn everything yet. There for it takes some of the challenge out of it. The meat is amazing but I don't think I'd put one down on purpose.

So, you ask a question and say "no wrong answer" and then answer with an arrogant statement.

BTW, I don't see the point in shooting the buck in your avatar.....but to each his own.

Slippery slope when we make statements like these to other hunters.

Classic PT. Ask a loaded question, and then wait for a few responses to answer yourself, in a pompous manner.

I have and I might again if I feel like it. It is usually late in the season, or I have near the end of shooting hours when it didn't appear any other deer would come before light faded. They are delicious. I have also doubled up on fawns. They equal one adult doe, except they are more tender.

How long does it take a fawn to lose its spots? I'm not being an arse I really don't know. What did the ones you shot weigh? I like the idea of dragging one out though lol.

I shoot what ever deer I feel is the one I want. I have and will shoot fawns, yearlings, does and younger bucks. ( 2 years and up )
Buttons I try to leave alone just because I would like to see the buck numbers increase in our area.
But I have to agree with DUB the meat is amazing.
Hey PT just remember we are all here to collectively help eachother in our hunting traditions not fuel the fire for people that say is wrong and you should'nt do it at all.
Fair chase fair game does not exclude fawns does it?

HA! And then followed it up with "I don't see the point."

Since we're asking simple questions...do you believe in God? Why or why not?

I doubt there were any feelings hurt, but your question and statement shows that there is a huge divide amongst hunters and what those among us deem as "appropriate" to kill. Threads like these just draw out the hunters that look down their nose at a other hunters.

Like I said, slippery slope and it shows peoples true colors.
