Do you seriously cut off ties with people in your private life over just one issue?

You see.. I find that hard to swallow. My brothers and sister were and always were... just really close. We lost two of them last year... but that's life

But.... I understand how it can happen. One of my child hood pals who lives maybe a mile or two away has gone through what you are I guess. Just a bad situation. He was in the Army and married a wonderful German girl. At least I find her wonderful. they have kids and do everything together. The day Bobby brought the German wife home he became the outcast of the family. No real reason other than she was German HIs brother has lived across the street from him since he left the service...what40 years ago. They do not talk...period.... not at all. Bobby was a corrections officer in the state prison system... his brother a prisoner at times. LOL I love Bob and his wife. They have a great relationship.

Hard to swallow or life is too short, honestly I don't care. Sounds horrible but after things she said and did, she is no longer family

When I was in Canada our saying was "Kenora, where the women are women and so are the men."

Except Reese. (just in case he sees this)

I don't necessarily cut ties, but I don't normally go out and form ties with people I constantly butt heads with either. If we just philosophically don't agree on most subjects, why would either us want to hang out much? I mean, I don't go around being a ****** to people who's opinions are stupid (read: different than mine)...but I don't go ask them to come over for dinner either.

My buddies and I disagree on minor issues but for the most part view life much the same.

As long as the issue wasn't sleeping with my wife, we can usually move past it :D

I cut ties with a friend over a couple issues a few years ago, one being an affair he was having with a very young (but legal) girl on his wife, but the more important and disturbing issue was him hitting his kid when his kid only 4 at the time came running out into the kitchen where we were talking, and interrupted him, just wanting to show him a picture he'd drawn. I told him I hope I never see him do something like that again, because I may have to return the favor on him, and left.

In most cases, I won't absolutely make a disconnect, but there are certain issues that if someone has opposing views, I lose a great deal of respect. Abortion being one of them, because it is truly in essence PREMEDITATED MURDER, as described by Roe v. Wade. Gun Control being another, because I believe people should be held responsible, accountable, not their weapon of choice. Oftentimes I find that people with opposing views are poorly informed, and their ignorance drives their opinion, rather than facts.

I was thinking more about philosophical views and cutting off people as opposed to actual physical acts.

I hate to say this but my mother and my younger brother have done and said some things over the past decade that have absolutely put me to my wits end. I am talking saying some terrible things that are absolutely so far out in left field that I think they went mad when they said those things....more than once. One of them I am barely hanging on by a thread with and the other has lived overseas for a decade and is basically a recluse. Just a tough pill to swallow.

    Dan,
In all honesty, it took a great deal of self-control not to mop the floor with him, and he knows I could READILY do it, but that wasn't going to do anything positive for the kid at that point, so saying what I said once the kid was out of the room bawling, I felt was probably/prospectively, more beneficial. I still have a friendship with his ex-wife, and the kids see me as a positive role-model type person in life. I'm not sure if they'd have seen me as anything more than a mean person who beat on their daddy had the situation been changed, and the legal problems resulting from that reaction may not have been a very good option either.

If two people agree on everything, at least one of them is not thinking.

For the record, treating people well who treat you badly is our ultimate test.

Which one is more important anyways? Opinion or Fact? What if you choose opinion even if you KNOW the facts!?

I want to slap the face paint right off of Caleb's face.

But we could still be friends afterward.

    Maybe.

Depends how much Packer's stock he owns. I have to draw the line somewhere.
