I had a buddy tell me last year that he just gets up and pees off his stand when he needs to go. He said as long as you are not full coffee or antibiotics it doesn't bother deer. I have always tried to never pee around my stand but he does this and has a few nice deer on the wall, just wondering your thoughts on this.
Not sure how it effects them so I don't do it. Better safe than sory. You will probably find different opinions on this subject. There was a thread like this a couple months back.
I wouldnt be able to sit in a stand for several hours. My motto is better out than in! Ive had deer stop and sniff my pee spot on day and shot it while it was standing there!!!
i never pee out of my stand but i usually have a water bottle to go in. im not sure what it would hurt by peeing off of it, but like Sticknstringarchery said, better safe than sorry
Yep, I pee from my stand and always look forward to it as well. It's quite the bit of fun when you're 12-20 feet up in a tree.
I do too...other hunters who do this include Chuck Adams and Michael Waddell There is a ton of evidence out there that human urine does not spook deer at all
What about flatulence? I've always been weary of passing gas while hunting because I didn't know if it affected anything either way.
My dogs fart so that means deer fart. Better out than in!!! LOL. I just make it as quite as possible.
sweet, cant wait to try my aim from 20' up i would say as long as you don't blast your gas like my co-worker that sounds like a jake break on a mach truck you'll be good on that lol although me after chili night at deer camp would probably scare everything within 40 square acres
I think that deer have to live in such close proximity to man now that human scents don’t spook them like they may have at one time. Just the other morning, I saw 3 young deer walking up the road well within the town limits of this small town. I said walking up the road and not across it. I bet there had been over a hundred people walk that particular stretch of road within the last 4 hours. The deer didn’t seem to be concerned at all. They weren’t even walking fast!! This reminds me of a time when some friends of mine took a guy on his first deer hunt. The Federal land was open for 3 days and they were taking advantage of the hunt. All but the one guy were careful with their scent and some even used some special spray marketed to hold down body odor. They all had jugs to urinate in should the need arise. Later in the morning they heard a shot come from where the guy had his borrowed climbing stand. A little later they went to see what the shooting was all about. They found him standing beside a dead deer smoking a cigarette. He told them he had to climb down from his stand several times to relieve himself because he had drunk so much coffee that morning. He was a chain smoker, and one of my friends said there looked like there were at least 50 cigarette butts around his tree stand. He was the only one that day that saw a deer, and he killed his deer right under his stand. For the next several years my friends told this story many times and always got a good laugh out of it. I guess some guys are just lucky.

Ya I think someone asks almost every year lol. No biggie. If your unsure of something it is always best to ask.
I think I have seen this subject at least 2 times since May. Never be afraid to ask anything on here. You may get some greif every now and then but, its better to ask than not know and screw something up.
I set my stands within "range" of other trees when possible so that I can pee down them to minimize the noise. The smell is what it is. If he's busting you because of your evaporating piss on the ground, you were smoked anyhow.
