I think gun hunting is hard.. but definatly not as hard as bow. last year I hunted every evening and most morning's with my 12 gauge, it payed off on the last evening when i took a 199'' buck at three yards while walking to my stand.:tu: This is my first year as a bowhunter and with no success i could have taken many does with my shotgun but too far for bow. So I never hunted with a real rifle but a nice slug gun will max out at 100 maybe 110 yards for an ethical kill. I love shotgun hunting it is my favorite season but i am growing to love the kill with a bow.

No no no ... guys that ARE lazy, inconsiderate, hacks that litter, shoot every deer they see, kill all the bucks, get drunk and ruin it for the bowhunters usually choose a gun as their weapon for the aforementioned reasons ....

I am a gun hunter ... and I LOVE to gun hunt ... but I am not like those above

I love guns and i love to hunt w/ guns but i love bowhunting more!. I dont however love some of the idiots who have them especially poachers and dumb ass' that see your vehicle and know you are hunting and go 2-300 yrds away and start target practicing for an hour str8 theres nothing wrong with guns or gun hunters just idiots who give those folks a bad rep.

If it wasn't for gun hunters and the large amount of deer they kill, we probably wouldn't be afforded the opportunities we have as bowhunters. By and large bowhunting is not the primary means of managing the deer population, gun hunting is. So without them doing the brunt of the "work" for us, our ability to bowhunt may be severely hindered. Understanding this, I love gun hunters. There's nothing wrong with it at all, and I encourage everyone with any sort of interest at all to try it out.

Exactly, been saying this for years. Gun hunters also help fight for our rights as hunters as I will do for them. What do I think when the gun season opens here where I hunt In Mn? I cringe Is what I do. Most of the gun hunters around here are terrible with their hunting ways. Drives me nuts. Some of my best friends are gun hunters and they get all the respect In the world from me. There's bowhunters around here too that make me cringe. Gun season will be over next Sunday. I can't wait.

I like hunting with a rifle, but its so difficult for me to get away from other hunters around here. Thats one reason why i love archery so much

Very timely post. I just bought my first gun in three years this past weekend. While it wasn't a hunting rifle (tactical shotgun), it really stirred a fire in me that hasn't been for a while. I think sometimes I get down during rifle season because I'm not proving myself as a hunter anymore, but then again, I LOVE the comradery of it all. Hunting camp, getting to actually hunt with my dad, possibility of snow on the ground, etc. It certainly is a part of me, and while I enjoy bowhunting more for several reasons, I will continue to hunt with a rifle.

I've met several gun hunters that seemed to me that they were slob hunters, with little or no ethics. I've also met several bowhunters who were the same.

It's not the weapon that makes a hunter a "slob".

BTW, I gun hunt. I do enjoy it, but I must say that if given the choice to carry my bow instead I probably would.

I do not let anything deter me from what I need to accomplish in the woods. I will hunt around gun hunters, bowhunters, crossbow hunters...I just do not care. There is nothing I can or want to do about anyone elses hunting or hunting methods.

I love to hunt with my muzzleloader. Gun hunting can be as much of a challenge as you want it to be. Set your own limits.

I really enjoy my late season Alabama hunt with the rifle. Rut comes in late down there (end of Jan) and I love hunting those big hardwood ridges and food plots waiting for a rutting buck to come by. I only bowhunt here in GA. Funny story, one of the most elite, prostaff, AWSOME shots with a bow that I know went down about 3 years ago with us, and after watching deer just out of range with his bow, broke down and borrowed a rifle. needless to say, 3 days and 4 misses later he was very humbled. Seen him smoke a doe a little over 50 one day with his bow, not a one of his misses on that trip with the rifle was that far.

Slobs are defined individually, regardless of weapon...heck slobs are defined individually no matter what you are comparing.

Justin hit it head on, without the guns we as bowhunters could not control the herd. I also think the south has a different outlook than some other areas because our seasons are built to cater to gun hunters, we get a month of bow, 1 week of ML and then 2.5 months of gun, right on through the rut into the late season.

That's how I look at it also. I don't hunt with a centerfire rifle anymore. Muzzleloader for me.
