Pretty simple question. Do you look down your nose at gun hunters or do you see them as part of the sport you love but just choose a different weapon?

No right or wrong answers....... Discuss.

I love to bow hunt more than anything. But, You can bet the 30-06 will ring my ears a time or two this season.

I don't know why, or what it is, but be it thrill, tradition, or whatever, there's something about it that brings out the lead in me every year.

I don't look down on them. I occasionally hunt with a ml. I do think without a doubt its easier.

No way. In fact I enjoy hunting with a rifle & m/l myself, though my first love is the bow and I use it more.

Definitely not! Lord, knows that bowhunting is my first and truest love... but I own way more guns than I do bows... and I plan on using them from time to time, too!

No way. I hunt with bow (compound and recurve), muzzleloader, rifle, and beanyflip if they'd open a season for that. Doesn't matter to me what method people use as long as they follow the regulations and enjoy what they're doing.

    but... but .... but.....

I thought gun hunters were lazy, inconsiderate, hacks that litter, shoot every deer they see, kill all the bucks, get drunk and ruin it for the bowhunters???? Generalizing here of course. :hater:

I use to be only a gun hunter until this year took up bow hunting. I would have had my limit by now if I had a gun. I respect all bow hunter more than ever now. Don't get me wrong there's a few bow hunters I look down on. I know a guy who's shot 3 bucks and hasn't found one. I've had a few shots myself but haven't took them because I wasn't 100% sure. Bow hunting takes allot more skill than with a gun. Hell with a shotgun you have 5 rounds at great range if your screw that up you might as well be elmer fudd...

    Sometimes.....if they walk under me.....:D

Depends on the gun hunter type really. I DO NOT like the deer drives that are so commonly done here in Ohio, and have seen many cases in which they were just plain DANGEROUS!!! Last time I was in a deer drive, I believe I was 17 or so, and some of the dumb-arses started shooting into the drive at a couple little 6pt bucks, lead flying over my head, cracking in the trees above me..... NO THANKS!!! Good ethical HUNTERS, not herders, no problems at all. My last shot at a deer with a gun was in 2002. I lost the desire to use guns on them, as there was just no thrill in it anymore. Bowhunting ruined the "gun-hunter" in me..... :tu:

I bowhunt most of the time. Last year I took my .270 out on one hunt in late Dec on my lease. However I do not like going to public lands during our gun season. The WMAs tend to be really crowded at this time. It's why I look for archery only WMAs to hunt and focus on my lease once gun season opens. I don't look down my nose, but try to avoid those areas as much as I can.

Hi Chavo, my name is Elmer Fudd. Nice to meet you. I missed the biggest buck I've ever seen at 40 yards with a shot gun in 2007. :throw: :D

Well if your sick with buck fever that's understandable. I'm just saying you can't compare bow hunting with a gun. Your odds are increased dramatically with a gun.

You probably won't have many openly admit it here....but there are some here that do look down on gun hunters. Over the years its shown through. I personally don't understand why so many folks harbour the elitist attitudes, but to each his own I guess.

I gun hunt. Bowhunting is great then they close the season for 9 days to gun hunt. If I don't gun hunt I don't get to hunt. So I choose to hunt.

Not at all, I still go shotgun but I'm not as focused on it. I've taken 3 deer with a gun vs about 13 or so with a bow. Then again I hunt private land so while it gets gun hunted, everyone that hunts it sit in stands.

I'm actually happy to be going this year, put in for a hard to get public land tag and got drawn. Plus it looks like shotgun weekend will be prime rut around here, cold temps and even a chance of snow on the ground. Wouldn't want to miss it.

I grew up gun hunting with my family. I have alot of great memories thats for sure. I found my passion in bow hunting the last 10 years, but I don't look down on gun hunters at all, if people didn't gun hunt then we would have more problems with deer. Personally, being a trophy hunter I would rather harvest my deer with bow and manage deer with bow. To me there is more behind pulling that string back and letting an arrow rip through a deer than simply pulling the trigger.
