I try to fill a couple doe tags early for the freezer if I don't have a shooter on cam. While doing this I still scout and move cams trying to find one.

I'll sit in a stand anytime in the season. You never know what will show up. I've never had a big buck on my cams but have seen many. Usually later. In the past I've taken does early but this year I'll save the does for after the rut. I have to share my property with my wife and son. Going to hunt some other properties with them this year tho.

I have two different pieces of property I hunt. I'll leave my "main" piece of land alone for the most part early season. I'll sneak in there every now and then to observe for a few sits, but wait to really hunt it end of October/Early November.

The other piece is decent land but nowhere near my main chunk. I'll go at it and be pretty aggressive trying to find a mature buck early season (which is actually pretty fun trying). If/when I burn it out, I'm ok with it because I wont see it again until the next season.

Either way once the bell rings and they say I can hunt, I'm in the woods somewhere.

I also wait on my does to fill my tags until late season. Just what I do. Never know when that one can be the one to lead freak daddy my way. I let them live just in case. Probability of that being the case is minimal, but you never know. Plus I can fairly easy fill my doe tags after the rut late season anyway.

I remember back in the day...I believe it was a tuesday....when we didnt need cameras to be confident we were on a good buck...rubs, scrapes, and other signs were all we needed....so for me, I use a camera to confirm my planning and assumptions....or to monitor a previous hot spot....just sayin

OK, assume you don't have any other buck sign either.

assuming there was no sign....i would hunt a spot that had sign....if the tract was that small where there was NO sign at all...I would hunt the does. Eventually where the does go the bucks are soon to follow.
