Then you DO gun hunt..... it's OK, TJ ... they will still love you here I Shotgun, Muzzleload, rifle, and Pistol hunt ...love it all!
I bow hunt up till Rifle season. I don't muzzle loader hunt...during then I use my bow. I always break out the 25-06
Hey Nick P wouldn't want you to get pinched….Pretty sure coyotes are fair game during CWD season in Illinois (to counties open) if hunting deer with legal shotgun, pistol, or muzzleloader. Wouldn't wanna get caught with an Ar15 in the field during that season think thats against the law?
If you can kill a whitetail deer with it legally ill use it....can never have to much venison Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
Not for over 5 years now. In NC you can bowhunt on Private Land all season long. You can bowhunt on Sundays on Private Land too here. The challenge of getting a deer or big buck in close is such a RUSH. Throw in Self Filming your hunts and the rush becomes even greater. I said it in a thread last year, there is nothing like having a group of deer under your stand eating and browsing and they have no clue you are there. Yeah, you can let them come in close while gun hunting, but it kind of defeats the purpose of using a gun. Like grnhd said, there are not as many people in the woods during bow season. Also, the deer are easier to pattern and in many cases not feeling hunting pressure yet.
I'm still a new bow hunter so I use the rifle to top off my freezer in December Sent from my VS930 4G using Tapatalk
Since I only get lucky ever couple years of drawing a rifle tag for buck here for the 2.5 week season... I will carry both. If in bow range the bow gets the nod. If he is out of bow range with no hope of getting him closer and I want to kill him... he dies. Tim
Sure do as it's one of the few rare times me and my brothers get together and head up to the cabin for the Wi gun deer season.
I'll bust out the smokepole or the revolver every now and then. Haven't killed one with the rifle in years.
Every since moving to my new location I have only been fortunate enough to hunt land that is Bow hunt only. I havent had a rifle in my hand since 2006 but if given the opportunity I believe I would knock the dust off of it and go hunt.
I did for many years, have nothing against it but purely lost intrest in it, I quit back in 2005. I do in fact still love taking my kids and watching them, it opens this week end and ill have my 14 yo out!
If I need to I'll shoot does to fill the freezer. I won't shoot a buck with rifle anymore though. Actually I won't pick up a gun till the January doe season. Dad calls me crazy for carrying a bow in the woods during rifle season.
I bow hunt once I get one with a bow then I gun hunt. I don't even buy my tag till I get one with the bow. Hutch
