Bow hunting is by far my passion but I gun hunt, also. Opening day of gun season is huge tradition in my family.
Yup I do both. have no probles using either. Eveyone I hunt with does both, so no problems. I prefer hunting w/a bow much more than a gun. I've always said that I use my gun for putting meat in the freezer, and my bow for actually hunting.
Bow hunting is definately where my heart is!! I do gun hunt, but I mostly use gun season for scouting and filling the freezer with doe meat.:d
Absolutely yes! Out west every year. The ground I cover and the scenery I see I could never effectively hunt with a bow for my temperment. It allows me to really take it to the game.I hunt all of the seasons Archery,Rifle,Muzzle loader.I enjoy them all!
For whitetail its pretty much just bow anymore, I used to hunt with gun but it just for some reason lost its luster for me. My two boys still do and i enjoy tagging around with when they do. The only gun hunting i do any more is for Doves.
I use my shotgun for birds of all sorts, turkey included. This past year was the first 100% gunfree deer season I had. I bowhunted during rifle season, and ended up arrowing a buck on the last day of a 16 day gun season. I wanted to prove to myself I could do it. I don't miss gun hunting, but I DO miss seeing that puff of white smoke clearing with a muzzleloader. I really only got one good season out of a centerfire before I took up archery, the rest of my life and majority of my deer were taken with an inline muzzleloader. This year I plan to shoot a doe or two with my guns, just for traditions sake (and the jerky meat). I hope to take one with the .270 and the muzzleloader one weekend. I won't attempt it if I don't have an archery buck down first, that comes first.
I enjoying shooting my rifles-have even hunted with them. I find their use in the field makes hunting terribly easy. I, therfore, opt to hunt more with my bow. There's a time and a place for everything.
