Bow only for me.... I am sure once the lil guy is old enough, I will be taking a shotgun out again though
i can count on one hand the number of deer i have killed with a bow, and i cant count how many i have killed with a gun. this is only the third year really hitting it hard with a bow, i enjoy it more, but the camaraderie of deer camp is what keeps me goin back gun in hand
It is likely that I will never kill a deer or any other big game animal with anything other than a bow for the rest of my life. I have no desire to. I haven't fired a rifle since the 90's.
As much as I LOVE bowhunting, as long as my dad is alive and able to go out I will keep on gun-hunting. We always look forward to gun season, b/c of the time we get to spend w/ each other.
I gave up the Gun three years ago for Deer. I just sold my single shot slug gun this year. Im keeping my Omega muzzle loader so I can give it to my youngest son when He gets bigger. My oldest already has a ML as well as shotguns and rifles. Dont get me wrong I absolutly have NOTHING against deer hunting with guns but I just so love hunting with my bow so much better, Its a personal thing for me. I will be sitting beside my 10 year old this comming weekend, while he has shotgun in hand, and will love every minute of it Matt Millard for example on his post. Im very proud of him for what he took with the ole smoke pole
Both. Rifle season is my time to spend with my dad. Wouldn't trade it for the world. I prefer bowhunting much more, there's no question about that.
I prefer bowhunting, but I do enjoy gun hunting w/ family and friends. My younger brother just decided to gun hunt again this year after taking 14 years off. I still can't figure out why for sure, but its going to be a lot of fun dragging his sorry butt from one end of the public grounds to the other and make him work for it.
I think you know me better than that Greg! :D I have gun hunted every year since I was 12. Last year I shot my first elk and mule deer with a rifle. This year I may only take the smoke pole out.
Yes, still do the shotgun season - too much tradition and love to hunt with family - it would take an awfully huge buck for me to pull the trigger though (haven't since 2000)...typically take a doe or two - and spend time hauling out everyone else's deer out on the gator. Deer Camp is the only reason I still go - and sure I'll take the kids one day. But I do believe any other big game animal I ever hunt will be with bow only...
