Yeah, I understand, and I doubt I will ever sit down and watch an episode of South Park with my daughter, but if I walk into a room and I see her watching it, I'm not going lose it. I'll probably just tell her that the show sucks and she should be smarter than to watch such crappy TV.
Add these words........"And it is not okay to act like this or say the things they say". I don't lose it either if I see something like that. But I make darn sure to make them aware it is not OK to watch in our house.
You have to remember not to laugh at any of the adult humor or anything you'll say about it it being bad is not valid anymore. Like the look on the cats face after Mrs Cartman says "I know a certain little kitty who's sleeping with mommy tonight"
I cannot understand the concept of being offended. There is nothing someone could say to offend me. The only people who get offended are those who worry about what other people think and are unable to think for themselves. With that said I do understand inappropriate, that is a different matter.
I don't really find those show offensive, but as others have said most the time they're jus not that funny anymore. As far as kids go not having any I only have what my experience growing up was and my beliefs. So hopefully novody gets offended. To me yea there's obviously age limits to certain programs, but I think the whole censorship thing is way out of control. If your a parent that relies on tv or games to raise your kids then yea you should probably watch what they are doin. But you can't stop them from seeing everything all the time, so why not do it on your terms. To me its the job of the parent to ultimately teach right from wrong. Now I'm only 29 but I can look back on plenty of movies from my childhood that I watched several times and I can watch them now and there'd be no way if it came out now it'd be considered "kid friendly." For the love of god they said the cookie monsters was making kids fat, now come on. So sorry if I offended any parents out there, I could def keep goin with things, but in all actuality if your kid is idk 10 maybe or younger then they prolly shouldn't be watching those shows. But if your giving that young kid a cell phone, which happens around here, so u can keep in contact then what they're watching or video games aren't screwing them up.
Wow.... this thread went in a different way than the title indicated. I once got very offended by the "Media". We had a pretty good fight with a bunch of NVA. I was tired, dirty and not in a mood for bull****. They flew in a bunch of photo guys and news guys the next day as we policed the battlefield. I refused to speak to the press. I told them to get out of my face. A couple weeks later I was sent a couple newspaper clippings from my mom where I had been "Quoted" by the press. Last thing I wanted was for her to hear that crap. I never talked to them, was interviewed or anything.... yet I was quoted in the national newspapers coast to coast. My troops got clippings from their home town newspapers quoting me. They don't speak the truth. Well, anyway... I got press time. LOL
I watch sports, Food Network and This Old House. That's about it... oh and an occasional Hawaii 5-0, mainly because I grew up there. Zach watches shows about cars, Myth Busters, Alaskan State Police and Dumb (Duck) Dynasty. He really doesn't care for sit coms and I despise them. He does like NCIS and we let him watch that some but he gets up early, goes to Magnet School, swim practice, comes home, eats, finishes homework and goes to bed.
Can you blame me ?? Guys are pigs. Look at all the high maintenance, sissy Mary's on this site... especially the ones that frequent the water cooler. :p Homo !!!! Tim
They dont bother me a bit. Takes a lot to do that though. Dont have kids and hope I never do. But, I do let me dog and my parrot watch them with me...is that bad parenting?
My kids see and hear worse things on the school bus ( only one in school now ) the other 2 are still tramitized after graduation!
