Shows such as Family Guy, Robot Chicken, The Simpsons and others that take it pretty far? Do you let your kids watch these shows?
I can't speak directly about kids watching it since I don't have any, but I know my kids wouldn't be watching them while I was around. I suppose it also depends on what age as well. I watch Family Guy sometimes (as background noise in my gym which is open to the kitchen when were doing things around the first floor), and anymore, while there's definitely funny parts, it's more obnoxious that anything. I'm just over the Simpsons (actually never really got into it), and never watched one second of Robot Chicken:D
No and no. I have pretty thick skin. But I also won't let my kids watch it at an age where they can't decipher what is acceptable and what is not acceptable.
I don't get offended by much. Like I can't really think of a recent situation in which I was offended. As for what I'll allow my kids to watch, I have no idea about that yet. I guess I'll know when the time comes, but I have a feeling my wife will be the more conservative one when it comes to that type of thing.
It's really hard to offend me, but I don't find Family Guy funny at all. I don't know why, I've tried watching it, its just not for me. I monitor what my 5 year old watches, my son is 17 and he watches pretty much what he wants.
I don't think Robot Chicken or The Simpson are cleaver enough to offend anyone, and Family Guy doesn't really do a good job of it anymore. South Park and Tosh.O are the last hold outs on no holds barred bashing, I enjoy them both thoroughly.
I don't get offended by most of it at all. South Park is often worse than the ones mentioned if you watch the unedited versions but it's one of my favorite shows because of it's edginess and willingness to attack current issues. I find some of the Jesus Christ stuff they do to be over a line that makes it unenjoyable for me personally but I applaud them for their willingness to not care what I think and go for what they wanna do with their freedom of speech. That said, no way in hell my soon to be 4 year old son or soon to be 1 year old daughter would be watching those shows!! Heck, I'm still kinda unsure about my son watching me play Call of Duty. EDIT: Forgot Tosh.0 as it's ot really in the same category as the others but YES he pushes EVERY line and yes I love it LOL.
It's all junk. My daughters are getting to the age where they see or here a lot of that stuff in school. I just keep their asses busy so there in no time for that kind of ****.
That's pretty cool, I can cuss and they will put the little stars in there for me. That's some high tech ****.
South Park is great. I'll probably let my daughter watch South Park because it does it right. They attack everyone equally. Family Guy just sucks. It hasn't been funny in years. And Tosh.O is basically just a shock jock now. I don't find him that funny anymore. He kinda sucks.
Yeah but finding out about them from her peers or the internet vs her parents allowing her to watch it in their presence are two totally different things. Letting her see that stuff in your presence sends messages to her that this is OK. Even if you tell them otherwise. Their minds can't tell right from wrong yet. They just absorb everything they see. It is one thing when they are teenager when you can explain it to them and they can understand and disassociate inappropriate behavior that is supposed to be funny. But younger kids, say 11 and under (depending on the kid) are still like sponges and mimic all behavior they see and it truly does affect them. You have to set the example Hook.
