I seem to be more attentive in fresh spots, than established areas.

I love the view from a new tree.

I get more excited about new or fresh spots. I usually change my stands each year and keep one in the same spot. I do like hunting both types though. New spots are exciting and unknown. Old spots are nice because you can think back to prior successful or unsuccessful hunts. You have a better idea of how the deer travel and react.

With that said. I have a stand I've hung in a new spot on new land that I won't hunt until November and I've very excited to see how it works out.

The last time I did that I left a new spot untouched until Halloween and hunted it. Shot the buck in my avatar that day. I think a fresh stand is very exciting. First time hunting a new stand location is always more exciting to me.
