Do you feel cheap when you use a Groupon/LivingSocial coupon?

I know the establishments are the ones that set up the coupon on the sites, but every time I use one of the coupons at a restaurant, I feel like the server is always judging me. I think it is because a lot of people do not tip on the actual amount, but just the amount after the coupon, which is obviously a crappy thing to do.

Obviously it doesn't bother me enough to stop using them, because I use those bastards at least once a week, but a part of me always feels ashamed. I guess I'm just insecure like that.

Sometimes when I use other coupons I feel like a cheapskate, but not on the group-on ones. Cause it's usually a deal where I;m trying something that I may not have otherwise done.

I always over-tip when using a groupon. I figure I didn't pay full price for my food, and like you said, some people probably don't tip the actual amount.

I over-tip in general because I would NEVER want to be a waiter. I guess I feel bad for them.

It felt very strange to tip $10 on a $2.25 bill last night.

Use the coupons. The line between cheap and smart often blurs :)

Tip on the full bill amount for sure, but like Vito said, If I saved a bunch of $$ I usually try and share the love with the server.

I actually went out for dinner lastnight wit my wife. First time since last spring with the resort. Anyways, we had a $40 GC and our bill came to 42.xx. Still gave the guy an $8 tip. Win Win Win.

I just used a groupon for golf last week with some buddies and talked to the gal that manages the course for a few minutes. She said they are great for them because their course is a little off the beaten path and it brings in a lot of people that wouln't normally golf there, my group included. She said they would be keeping the course up anyway so the more bodies thru the door the better. Not to mention they make a killing on the booze. I went in feeling like a heel using a 2 for 1 coupon and left having a better understanding of the game they are playing.

If I knew what a groupon was I could comment on the use. LOL Never saw one, had one given to me or know what in the hell you're talking about.

A groupon is something you can print with the help of a super fancy, rectangle shaped thingy they call a computer. You needs to have the interwebs too, though.

    LOL....too funny. :lmao:

My wife and I went to our favorite Indian Restaurant the other week to use our Groupon before it expired. The problems I've run into with Groupons are that the workers don't know what the hell they are. You would think a restaurant's owner would inform their employees that they are participating w/ Groupon.

But to answer the question...yes I tip the full amount and extra when it's a really good deal. I typically tip 20% whether using a Groupon or not. Sometimes more depending on the bill amount and quality of service.

I don;t feel cheap. I AM cheap! But speaking for someone whose company has used group on for their products they have proved very successful. A smart company will also have another strategy for getting you to come back again or pay more some other time. If it's a restuaraunt always tip on the full amount not on the discount. No one loses.

I looked into that Groupon thing and the nearest participating cities are all 150 miles away. Pffffft.

So I deem it a limp wristed, yuppy thing. :D
