So I asked a do you question ... here is another one ... do you feel sad or remorseful for taking an animal's life for your own purposes? I can honestly say that I used to feel slightly remorseful when o killed a deer but not anymore ...not sure why I don't ....nor am I sure why I ever did ... how about you all?
No, not really remorse. Although there is a certain feeling I get when I take an animal's life, not a sad feeling, hard to describe it.
Absolutely I do. I hope I always do, because it helps me keep things in perspective and grounded. I said it in the fawns thread, but shooting an animal and not feeling a combination of humility, regret, thankfulness and question would feel strange to me. I hope I never feel numb to taking the life of anything.
Do you feel remorse when you eat a steak, pork chops or poultry? I don't feel any remorse because I'm helping to feed the hungry, my friends and my self. I'm helping control a herd that's way out of control in my area. I get to be in the outdoors doing what I love best.
I don't feel numb .... I feel everything in your list, but the regret .... I used to feel that ... but no more .... I wonder if it.age? Is it the fact that I have taken dozens of deer ... I don't know ...
OK... So I am glad to see this, having only been hunting deer for two seasons, and not taking my first yet - I was wondering how others felt. I have helped drag deer out of the woods, carried them and loaded them into trucks for others - but not for myself yet. Hoping I can connect this year. Sean
I do indeed feel remorse! Unfortunately I have not found a way to practice catch and release of whitetails. I am not in a position that I NEED the meat, however I praise and thank God for the opportunities that only he can grant me. I have noohing that he hasn't given me or that he can't take away!
My mindset in regards to killing varies not only from year to year, but within each individual season as well. Sometimes I feel remorse, sometimes I do not.
I always get a solom feeling after a kill...no matter what it is...deer, coyote, ducks..geese...I suppose the same will be true with bear, elk and moose when I get time to hunt them.
When I take anythings life while hunting I can't say I feel remorse, but I do feel thankful, for lack of a better word. Thankful to the animal for offering food for me and my family, the ability to be outdoors and enjoy the freedoms that we do and thankful to be healthy and heartful. If we lose appreciation of the animals that we hunt, we have lost it all as hunters. Although hunting involves killing, it should never be thoughtless or ruthless. Every animal we take should be considered a gift to us.
Nope,. not even the slightest bit. The Lord put em here for us, and I thank the Lord every day for my health and ability to take what He has provided, but remorse?...no way.
