I have a chance to hunt this evening and it's going to be about 71 deg today. should I hunt near water or food. I don't get both in the same place.

Tough call. I'd probably find the nearest water to your food source and set up close to the food on the water side. Catch them between. Also depends how the winters are where you are at. Do they need to keep up the calories?

no they don't need to keep the calories...we have had warm temps all fall. only a few nights in the 30's and most highs have been 60 +/-.. this week has been upper 50s and today low 70s

we didn't have an acorn crop this year, it's been very warm, and the deer just have not been moving in my areas. most activity on the cams has been at night. really sucks.

If they dont need too keep the calories up then I would be hunting over a water source thats close to some bedding cover.

Good question. Got me stumped this late season. Been concentrating just on the outskirts of a bedding are along a creek with the last standing corn field that was cut 4 days ago. Haven't see a deer. December 11, in central NY and I'm sitting with an underarmour shirt and light pants. Haven't had a dusting of snow and temps approaching 60. Im having a hard time figuring them out around here.
