How long have you been together with your significant other and do you do anything special for each other? If so, at what level do you celebrate? Flowers? Candy? Dinner? Jewelry? Nothing?

I will be married for ten years this summer and it lost its luster many moons ago for us.

Married 2.5 years and we usually go out for a nice dinner, but we never go on V-Day. Too busy and too many set menus. I'll buy chocolates for her though.

At various times I have done flowers, jewelry candy all that crap...I always cook dinner on V day, we don't usually go out....reason being too busy at most of the places we enjoy going. In the past it fell in a weekend we have gone away, a short cruise, a road trip ..once to our summer house which was nice for the solitude at the beach.
But since our son was born we mostly stay close to home....

I've been going out with my gf for 3 years. Only the first year did we go out on the actual day, and the service was so horrible (set menu's, rushed out do to over reserving spots) we don't need to repeat that again. I took her out this past weekend and the place was awesome, can only imagine what it will look like come Thursday. As for gifts, I got her a tennis racquet this year which she loved. She bought me a 24oz Bud Light (I'll teach her what a growler is soon enough) and a gift certificate to my favorite deli, seems like a win win to me.

I have been dating my girlfriend for 4 years now, and I just get her a rose for every year we have been together. We normally go out to eat, too. Nothing fancy, just a regular sit down place.

My wife and I have been together 12 years. I don't do any of the V-day or Sweetest day stuff.

I think it's kind of dumb... I mean if I want to buy my wife something I do, I don't need a make believe "holiday" to tell me so.

We went last night to eat without the kids, she told me not to buy flowers this year, thank God! That is a waste of money! I will get her something probably a massage, peti or something.

Removing the religious part from Christmas, how is it different? Why do you need a holiday to tell you to buy gifts for your family and friends? Why can't you just do that anytime?

My GF and I have been together 10 months now. Just gonna get a rose and leave it on her car at her house before she gets up for work. Also gonna leave a note for a nice dinner as she chooses either home cooked by me or out to eat (but def not on Thurs night). I worked in the restaurant business for 9 years, I know what a nightmare Valentine's day is for any restaurant. That and Mother's day are the 2 busiest days of the year for most restaurants.

Valentines Day is a totally commercialized holiday that does not merit spending money on a loved one no matter what the retailers tell you. Been married for 33 years and never have we bought into the commercial pressure.

Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus, which happened whether or not you believe in God is irrelevant and they came bearing gifts. Not made up holiday. It is a celebration of an event and so is thanksgiving.

    Distinct difference from Vday
