I never was a superstitious guy at least I didn't think so. But as of last year I started carrying my large sheath knife. Now I have many smaller, more sensible sized knives. It seem that everytime I have this one with me I kill deer. Last year was the first year I ever was able to kill my limit. Now hear's the really weird thing, I have to have this hat on too. It's a deadly combination but only with the compound. I wear the hat in my avatar with the recurve, same knife.
No good luck charms but I always say a prayer before I leave the home to go hunting. I thank the Lord for this day on earth and I ask for a safe hunt and to bring me home safely afterwards. So far, this works great as I am still on this earth!
I have the ultimate hunting good luck charm that was sent to me by a good friend and forum member. I was considering sending it to someone this year to help them out in the luck department but I cannot bring myself to part with it. It is a flint napped and stained arrowhead.
My ole trusty Gerber,A arrow that I name and if I kill a deer I save the broadhead and arrow." Bubba" is up next.
My good luck charms are more of what I forget to bring. If I forget the camera, my knives, flash light and so on I usually do pretty good. It's when I'm fully prepared that nothing seems to happen. I guess I need to start leaving things behind more often.
the strings i tie on my weapons for wind direction. all of them have been on each of my weapons since i got em' just something that reminds me of my past hunts....
I used to wear an old mossy oak t-shirt -named it my buck killing shirt cause everytime I wore it seemed to see bucks - I still have it somewhere it is full of holes and faded to nothing but did that for many years
I have the same one....from the same source. It's in my quiver. I also have a metal arrowhead crafted by another member (and sent to me as a gift). It's hooked to the zipper on my quiver.
Don't believe in luck but do believe there is always a higher power involved. I am wearing a cancer care bracelet this year in support of my mothers battle.. its a constant reminder to me that I need to live every day of my life like it could be my last.
This is exactly me. Everytime I forget the camera you better believe I'm gonna shoot something or see something remarkable that I wish I could capture. Perfect example of this happened in Colorado during an elk hunt. I always carried my camera except for a short afternoon hunt. We climb up a very steep sagebrush hill and at the top a mature bull moose is 20 yards away just staring us down. We circle around him and he meets us at the top again. Perfect picture opportunity. 30 minutes later I shoot a cow.
Its weird but everytime I pick up a golfball fishing I start catching fish. So this year I am just going to make sure I have one. It can't hurt anything
Only if my kids give me something "Lucky". My son gave me a lucky pine cone to keep in my truck last year. After a 4 deer season...I didn't throw it out !
Yes I have a good luck charm! It is a bur end of an antler with a Cross carved in the antler on a necklace. Here it is!
I also pray! I have a friend that pass away back in 2001 from cancer and SHE was a big deer hunter. I always talk to her in the treestand to hope that she lends a helping hand with a big boy or any deer and a clean shot!
My son gave me a sticker out of a box of cereal and told me to put it on my bow, it was a Chicago Bears sticker. I've since upgraded my bow but also upgraded my Bears sticker to metal Bears logo. I also make sure to say a prayer first thing when I climb into the stand, simply praying for a safe hunt and to enjoy His bounty.
