No (Hooker). I'm not even close to needing to mow yet. My grass is still dormant looking from the winter.
Mowed twice and just reseeded the yard as it has been needing it for several years now. I like a nice looking yard but I neither have the desire or money to keep it looking as nice as I would like. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I mowed mine for the first time today. Couldn't finish because of rain but I got the front cut but not trimmed. No, I only cut when absolutely necessary. Sent from my iPad Mini using Tapatalk Bows, Broadheads and Backstraps
While I do like the way the yard looks after its been mowed, there is nothing I hate more than mowing.
Taking care of my 'yard' was very labor intensive when I was back in Illinois. But that's mostly because I grew and sold produce and had 130 free-range laying hens. The yard itself was only a little over an acre but the rest was planted with crops. We kept the lawn mowed and noxious weeds out, had flowers and a touch of landscaping but it wasn't exactly tidy. The Illinois house. (Yay, humidity! ) We planted roses. Lol. I planted chicked food too! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Nope - With all of the trees it's kind of tough. Weed whipping is one thing that can drive me nuts... We have a giant yard with tons of trim from flower beds, trees, etc. On a good day it will take 3 hours.
So this is my backyard in Utah... perfect lawn aficionados be afraid! I'm even embarrassed by it..... and that's saying something! We have it all fenced off into sections. Only a half acre. Backyard goes back to that fence by the dirt pile. There's a dog and 28 chickens. Soon there will be two piglets. Heh. I did buy some grass seed and though it is hard to believe..... the yard is already a lot better than it was when we moved in here last year. Grass really doesn't do well without irrigation. This is a desert. Not sure how much water I want to use for grass. I want to do the front yard landscaping with some rocks and desert plants. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
I cared a ton when I owned my place in NY. I put in a ton of time and $$$. Not sure why, but I took pride in it. Now that we are here short term and renting, I don't want to spend any time on it. I'd rather save the time and spend it with my kid, my wife, fishing, or scouting the new lease. I found a neighbor that is going to mow it for $25 a mow and I'm going to let him deal with it. As long as it doesn't look like crap it will be good enough. I'm sure when it's time for me to buy another house I'll change my position on this though.
I could not care less about my yard. If it wasn't for it getting muddy when it rained I'd just as soon spray the whole dang thing with round up and be done with it.
If it needs weed eating I use round up. As far as mowing I only do it when my wife complains enough. Even then I usually pay someone to do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cut and weedeat every week. Have hit it twice so far this year. We don't do plants though but, keep the shrubs trimmed.
Grass... ugh. First let me state... there's a huge difference IMHO 'twix a yard and a lawn. At one point in my life my lawn had to look like the first photo in this thread - if it didn't I was really upset. Then I had a neighbor tell me that grass was for children to play in and have fun. After that I calmed down a tad. Years after, we moved to the country and had a 2+ acre yard to mow and critters to watch walk on and through it. Now... we live back in the city (ugh!) and I could care less about mowing our yard. The only reason I mow it and keep it looking 1/2 nice is because of my wife.
