I'm happy to see that this has remained civil and open minded for the most part. I love asking questions and giving my opinions in these types of debates. Both help me to iron out my own belief system. Here's a few random thoughts I'd like to throw out there.

I consider myself a Christian, but I still struggle daily with much of the bible and what it says. This struggle keeps the dialog flowing between myself and God. The longer I press into any single issue, the more likely I am to find He's right. This still bruises my pride.

While I have gleaned much from other's perspectives, I still find that I find my best answers by reading the bible itself. Now, this did me little good before I learned to quiet myself before God. It took me a long time to commit to reading the bible on a regular basis and with an open mind allowing my thoughts and impressions flow.

Jesus is relational. I wish Christians were better at introducing people to Christ than just telling them what they think he thinks. Our job is not to change or judge people, leave that to Him.

If you are not looking for God, it's much harder to find him.

If you are comfortable in your faith, I think you're doing something wrong. This isn't a ride where you get your ticket punched and you're on your way. This is a never ending journey with struggle, loss, hope, love, grief, fear, joy... Christ is moving in the world, if you are staying comfortably still, he's getting further from you.
