The Bible says faith is foolishness to the wise. But the Bible also says a fool says there is no God. Rational... irrational?

2 Timothy 3:16... all scripture is divinely given by God... and is useful for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped to every good work. The seminary answer is usually, it was perfectly given... to the original authors. The word from God was infallible... what we have done with... maybe not so much. But it is interesting... that the number of confirmed translation errors is extremely small. About one page total.

Do you think maybe God allowed us to mess it up on purpose so that we would have to work a little to understand it? He does confound the language of men on several occasions throughout scripture.

Well the word of God and translation adds to my anti bible thoughts. If God was so powerful to make us, wouldn't he take care to make sure his book was interpreted correctly and translated correctly and written easily? Doesn't make sense to me to have a genius crazy powerful programmer who makes a multi complex system only to fail in writing simple instructions. If God is as great and powerful as people claim to be.

Seriously... the translation mistakes are very few. The errors are ours... mostly because we either haven't studied or have our own notion of what God should have or should not have done and hence refuse to study. I am not sure anyone living can even begin to describe His greatness... At the end of John's gospel... all the books in the world could not contain it all.

This is the reply given after all the questions asked.

The mind of a Fool is like a wheel that goes Round and Round.

    The boats were sent.

I absolutely understand the errors are ours. But again this is a big powerful being, wouldn't you think that he would make sure his voice his guidance stays crystal clear? After all mis translation and miss interpretation could damn one to hell without that one realizing the error of his ways.

Back then and even still today many people take the word of God through verbal as people still can't read and write. Yet because they took the guidance of another they could possibly be sinning and possibly sent to hell?

It is confusing, isn't it? It's extremely difficult, if not totally impossible for men to answer all of the questions that have been asked in this thread. I would imagine that some of the most learned theologians have debated some of these same issues without reaching a solid conclusion.

I've been checking in from time to time, but I haven't had much to post since this thread has wandered so far from the original topic. That's not necessarily a bad thing, mind you, but at this point in my life I'm definitely not one who should be trying to convince another of the validity of scripture or the nature of God, so I've just been watching from the sidelines.

I just hope that a certain person posting here doesn't keep pushing buttons until someone really unloads on him and gets this thread locked. I'm reading every post and a lot of it is educational and even reassuring.

Hmmm, where are these verses? That being asked, one must admit the Bible has a sarcastic streak. Surely you can see the many references to "the words of the wise I shall refute, and show there wisdom to be foolishness"? I would suggest neither rational nor irrational, but misinterpreted.

No. Faith is to develop the spark of in each of us of the Love of God without sure knowledge. However, I agree with what you have said here.

lol, yeah. Me to. It happens when i ask to many questions...

Do you go to college a get an A without studying? We had plenty of guys in college that would want to argue with the teacher and spend all their time trying to prove the teacher wrong... then fail the exam because they didn't study for the test. Everyone of them tries to blame the teacher... go figure.

I wish I could. I do have friends who can do that. Your analogy is accurate to an extent. You have to further add in we are learning from teacher to student to student to student to student and expecting the same lessons from the teacher from 2000 years ago to be taught the same from the 5th student down the line. Something as we've seen get different interpretations every decade.
