That doesn't answer the question of divorce. If God were real he would not allow divorce to occur as it is not allowed under the bible.

Not completely true... Pharisees tried to trick Jesus to which He replied... Moses permitted Divorce because men's hearts were hardened. Jesus allowed for divorce in the event of adultery. At either rate, what you are saying is God does not exist because people sin? If God has the power to punish sin... how could it be that He does not exist because of something He has sovereignty over? That's like saying I or you don't exist because our children displease us, when they would not exist if it weren't for us.

Muzzy Man and Zedd - Fantastic posts by both of you.

Yes, Zedd, I left out the name of the actual church that I grew up. It really wasn't intentional, though. I grew up in the Church of Christ. A very "legalistic" congregation, too. Most of them (not all of them) are, in my experience, but the one I grew up in took it to the extreme.

Like I said, my brother is a preacher and yes, he's a Church of Christ preacher. He has a very different view of my situation than what you would expect. Like I told Muzzy Man in a PM, my mother would consider my brother a "dangerous liberal" in the church. :D

Edit: I've gone back through and re-read this thread a few times to make sure I didn't miss any good input. I did say that I" grew up in a strict Church of Christ family" in a reply to Muzzy Man. It was in my "outline" reply.

To paraphrase what Spot so indelicately states, the Bible is not only comprehensive, but is subject to many interpretations. This is evidenced by the thousands of Christian sects from the RC to JWs. The God I read from the Bible is not a fan of divorce, but it is allowed, and in some cases mandated (i.e., David being ordered by Nathan to divorce all his wives but the one he murdered for). It is a violation of the nature of God's Nature to take away our free will, therefore he doesn't have the power to keep us from divorce. Biblically there are two great examples of this in play. The most famous example is Sodom and Gomorrah being destroyed because the sin was so rampant that man did not have the opportunity to choose the good. In effect, they were so evil that man had lost free will. The City of Enoch is another. In that City the people had become so righteous they no longer lived by faith but rather walked with God in perfect knowledge of His presence. The City of Enoch was taken up to become with God. my opinion.... so, can God create situation such as described by Chief? Depends on if such an action would deny man's free will. If it does not, then yes, it is possible. If the intervention would deny someone's free will, then it would not be possible for God to interfere.

That was one of the ones I was figuren on. Again, if this is something that bothers you that much, my suggestion is to query God. The worst that can happen is nothing. But, if you ask in faith (which it sounds like you have), God will answer. Eventually :sheep:.

Can you please shutup. You add nothing of value to this conversation but cheerleading and random quotes. No.kidding the bible has exceptions but many divorces aren't because of it.

We've gone 16 pages with no arguments discussing a topic that almost always leads to arguments. Please, let's not start arguing now over something that's not even related to the thread.

Okay, we'll go here. Chopayne has been indicating all along that he doesn't believe the bible and he's been asking questions. That's a start, right?

All Spot-n-Stalk has done to answer any questions he poses is to quote the bible back at him as an answer. What the heck? The only answer you can give someone who doesn't believe the bible is to quote the bible? What good is that going to do? I don't blame Chopayne at all for getting frustrated. Even I got frustrated with it. I just used a little more tact in replying.

I'll admit, though, that "shut up" did cross my mind.
