I was wondering if trail cameras change the way you hunt. Meaning like for me for example.......if you know you got 3 really nice shooter bucks on your property and all of a sudden you get 3 6pointers or so do you wait for those 3 shooter bucks or do you take a 6 pointer?
Without a doubt they change the way I hunt. For example, I checked my cam last saturday and got 2 pictures of a great buck (135-140, which is big for the area) and decided to pass on a 110 class 8 the next morning, which was the biggest I had seen from the stand. Had I not of seen the big one on the camera, I would have shot the 8.
Definitely changes the way you hunt. helps you way the pro's and con's of those border line bucks. Why take an average 8 when you know you have some bruisers out there. Basically helps me rationalize letting a buck walk away and keeps me from pressing the panic button 5 minutes after I do
i would say so. if you see those nice bucks one day and some not so nice ones another day you can choose what you want. pattern them. Or move the cams to a place(s) where you think those bad boys went. like i said before you can move the cams to areas you think those nice bucks are, and this changes the way you hunt. i hope this kind of makes sense i seem not to communicate myself well over the internet lol.
Dealing with this exact problem as we speak! Posted this issue under the trail camera section (Only at night) bc I have 3 deer that are p&y or better and trying to figure out their pattern is kicking my arse! Im def going to get more aggressive and more mobile with the LW setup this week.
Look in the trail cam section of the buck i posted i have named the freak, todays videos no other deer will get me to pull my bow back or bring on the tag soup.wouldn't be the first time for that
Most definitely. Allowing me to know what's out there makes it a lot easier to pass on borderline bucks.
Why would anyone invest in them if they weren't planning on altering their hunt strategy based on what they see?
If you can get daytime pics of a buck, thats a killable deer that you should be hunting! How would you know if he was moving during the day if it werent for trail cameras? Cant sit in the woods all day every day...even though we'd like to!
They do for me. I like to know what deer are hitting what stands at what times when things get slow. But, just because the deer are at one place doesnt mean that Big Boy wont be slipping by another. They handcuff me in a way. I have used cameras less this year than years in the past.
