Just keep it good and waxed up and you will be fine.

If you are going to wax that often, make sure you are using a high quality wax like daltons or something similar. The old thick pasty stuff will build up and it will need to be cleaned off.

If you are extremely anal, you might want to clean your string but for the average hunter, it is a waste of time.

I personally feel that strings don't need to be waxed nearly as much as most think. My string builder feels the same. My hunting bows see new rigging about every 2 to 3 years. My target rigs were changed every year. If I am shooting alot,i might wax once a month.

I personally have never waxed - it looks painful to me! I wax my bowstring monthly...this keeps it looking good. If you don't wax the bow string often enough, it will get these "hairs" that stick out all over - not good at all.

I like the Scorpion Venom line of products. About seven months ago, I started using their bowstring fluid. But first, I used their bowstring cleaner to clean off the old wax. It took a few times, but I eventually cleaned most of it off. After that bow was re-strung, I used the fluid exclusively. I've recently purchased a new bow, and the fluid is all I use.

You can use dental floss to clean the old wax build up off. Just loop it around the string and hold the tag ends and pull across the string. A couple time should do it. Then you can do as RIKK suggest and use the scorpion venom line of products and this will keep your string in much better condition without all the unwanted build up.

You would be amazed how much wax is in a string from the factory,my builder literally takes some off before starting a new string.

I tend to let my strings get so fuzzy that my friends will wax the strings. Apparently this annoys them. ;) I look at it as 'built in string silencers'.

Even without regular waxing, I only have to replace my strings when they get worn in the usual places that have nothing to do with being waxed/unwaxed.
