Its been on my bow since I got it about 5 years ago. I have no idea how many times ive shot it but its a lot. I also had an arrow bust on me last year and a couple of pieces got stuck between the fibers of my string and cables. Does that do a lot of damage?

    The short answer is yes.

If you shoot a lot then change the string yearly.

If you change the string, make sure to change the cables and everything. I have just went through this process. I was shooting my bow and my string started to come apart. I took it to the local bow shop and he subcontracts a guy to restrings the bows. It costed me 105 dollars taxes and everything. It was worth every cent the guy did an excellent job.

I just got my changed this year. I went custom and I am totally satisifed with it thus far. I probably have 100 shots through it and I am enjoying it because there was not much stretch in the string.

My Bear Truth came with Winner’s Choice string and cable. The factory suggests replacement every 12000 shots or annually.

You had probable fiber damage and would be strongly advised to NOT continue practice with this piece of equipment untill the suspect string and/or cable is replaced.
