This guy posed nicely for the cam! I've also seen him 3 times from the stand, no shot. His right side is very nice but his left side is out of wack, short g3 and missing g1. If he gives me the chance, I think I'm going to go for it.

If that is some of your newly purchased land which I am asuming it is, very nice.

It looks very appealing to a guy from W Texas where about the only trees I see are ones that someone planted. That is unless I had to rake all of those leaves.

    Good luck with the buck.

Schultze - Yes that is a scrape there. I also put some corn down for the camera (legal here).

Jeff - I believe that he is at least 3 1/2.

jackflap - Yes that is my new land..... so far it's awsome, I'm having the time of my life.

    Thanks Guy's

Jeff, look at his neck. It flows straight down to the bottom of his chest. 2 1/2s usually don't have that. Besides, I saw him with a 2 1/2 and the difference is clear when you have a side by side comparrison.

I agree with 3.5 yrs old.

He looks too muscular and heavy up front to be 2.5 IMO

Actually, 1.5-2.5 year old bucks exhibit very little...if any...neck swelling during the rut as compared to 3.5+ yr old bucks.

It looks to me his shoulder area is much larger than his hind quarters... Def looks 3.5+ to me.

First of all you are trying to change my statement, which is really is not surprising. I didn't say 2.5 year old's necks CAN'T swell. 2.5 year olds produce a LIMITED amount of neck swelling due to muscle development and your pic shows nothing that changes my mind. Neck swell is much more pronounced in 3.5+ yr old bucks along with more heavily muscled shoulders. Due some research if you think I am wrong.

Let's not get off on a tangent guys, but he does look to be a 3 1/2 year old. Greg, I'd take him too if given a shot. Looks like he's searching for some of the last acorns from that white oak. No, that's not a Rob buck.

I agree Scott, no doubt he's a 3.5 year old.

Well seeings I'm an authority, hell yeah it is. Just a bruiser of one. Big Rob bucks have much more antler to them. lol

    Ya, ya it is. :D

Imho, any antlered buck is capable of having a swollen neck depending on his rank in the herd. If he's making rubs, his neck will swell. His testosterone levels are dependent on his genetics and rank in the herd. If they are elevated, his neck and chest will swell. I've seen multiple 1.5's this fall, some look like does with antlers, some are more beefed up.
Here's a pic of a 1.5 y/o i had posted in another thread. Semi-swollen neck and chest and tree pulp on his bases.
