My guess is they do if it is not plowed under, thought I bounce the thought around here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I let my neighbor plant corn in my fields every year. The first two weeks after its harvested...they are in the fields all day long picking around. I see more deer in those two weeks than all year long...lol. Them after that its kind of a hit and miss once the deer pick it out.
^^^*what he said^^^^. In my experiences they are HOT right after harvest & it seems to go downhill from there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
On my main farm I have custom farmed. I own the land and a farmer pays me to farm it. I have him leave 10 rows around the woods, for a block so they feel safe and obviously food. He will come back a couple weeks later and take the corn down and I don't have him cultivate until as late as he can possibly wait. Works out pretty well and the deer seem to stick around my woods for longer and stay out during daylight. Just what I do.
I've seen quite a few tracks early this month through a cornfield where I hunted before. Seems like they are sticking around late this year.
Deer can lay down in corn and be almost invisible, after a hard week of rifle season the deer can be found laying in some of the large corn fields here. This season we had all beans so next season will be 500 ac of corn and I can't wait. Picked up a lot of ground in the last month going to be a great year 2014 hope the same for the guys here
Harvested corn fields are great here... especially when there is snow and it is cold. I will be hunting the edge of one this afternoon. Tim
They absolutly do visit picked corn fields. Around here its pretty much 95% after dark! I like hunting staging areas they travel leading to cut corn!
What everyone else said: YES! One of the best deer attractants you can get is a freshly picked corn field.
