Here come the guns. It's the same way in MO. I look forward to the increased activity, and with the large number of does in our area, we don't see alot of the bucks until the rut gets close. But, with that said, I get a little down knowing that the gun hunters are coming in and that the woods won't be the same until next season. I basically have from about November 4th to November 14th to really get it done. While the late season can definetely produce....it's still not the same.

Years ago (10+) I would've said I absolutely love the rut!! Buck sightings and sign were Incredible then, you just never knew. The rut the last 4 to 5 years has sucked. I used to get so excited but how does one get excited when there Isn't no sign of these bucks making scrapes, making rubs hardly anymore here? Seeing all that buck sign Is part of the excitement for me.

Did you end up getting a bow?

I also have a love/hate with the RUT.

One buck, I think will COME to the farm [he doesn't live here, but was here last year during the rut]

    Another will likey leave.

I do like seeing bucks I haven't seen before!

I look forward to the rut. There are many possibilities of what can occur during that time and you have to be on your toes all day as opposed to the main focus of the first and last hours of light. Sure there are drawbacks like the possibility of the best buck in your area being 2 miles away, but hey the best buck from 2 miles away might end up under your tree. The action is almost always fast and furious too which I find fun, but sometimes frustrating because it can be hard to stop bucks that have love on the brain.

The best bucks I've seen in the woods I've seen during the rut (chase phase).

The one really bad thing is the true rut is usually right after our season ends.:(

Yeah...you guys reminded me of something. I also love seeing "strange" bucks. Its kind of a double edge sword though. I see a NICE buck and then make him my new target when he might have only been passing through never to be seen again.

Any guys see the same buck numerous times during the rut?
