Thought you guys might get a kick out of this. Today I got the invite for my in-laws annual venison supper. :D

Typically we have anywhere from 30-50 people show up for this, and we basically tell deer hunting lies, eat good food, and drink all evening. When I first met Lisa, this was the event that she brought me to so I could meet her family...........lol......she's a smart girl. ;) For me, this is what deer hunting is all about, and one of the parts that I most "covet".

Do any of you have annual events like this with your family?

That is awesome! Does Lisa have any sisters?

In my immediate family I'm the only one that hunts.

    But do they eat venison?

and no, we don't have anyone around here for family that hunts. It's only my family in MN that does.
And the crazy greeks over here in NC, they frown upon my huntingness... I swear these people put a curse on me or something...

I did get a couple of them to agree to try waterfowl, and I got my wife to try squirrel this year! Maybe things are looking up?! Do I hear a Big Game cookout coming? :)

That's pretty good. For several years a few guys I know would get together for a "beer & deer" party but it kind of fizzled out.

"Deer & Beer" is an annual event that I do with buddies. Normally it's all males, but last year a few wives came. This year one of them asked if we could have something other than venison.

I hear she'll be getting out of the hospital soon...

Wish I had some sort of family event.

My best hunting buddy and I get together infrequently and have a wild game feast. We normally cook quail, duck, venison, wild pig and gorge ourselves and our families. In order to get all this down we normally go through a "few" bottles of wine, etc. There's nothing like it, and all of our children have acquired a taste for hunting and wild game.
