I know that this deer is where a DNR collar. They did same banding and stuff in my county over the last few years. Somebody told me that the DNR gives you money if you harvest a collared deer and return the collar to them. Is this true? I think that is the case, believe its a deer mortality study they've been doing.

Correct. If you kill it (and its ok to kill it), contact the DNR with the info on the collar.
