I got the Covert CA4.0 several weeks ago. It took me a couple of evenings to figure out the remote (I am not that tech savvy though). I think MBhunt is right, although you can use the remote to program and/or scroll through pics etc on sight, I think it's mainly used for the initial programming or set up. At least that's the way I envision using it. I realize that this unit is one of the lower priced cams, so I'm not complaining, but since you asked Pat here are a few observations I've made; The access panel and battery panel on the bottom seem a bit flimsy. The two doors may hold up just fine, but they just seem kind of wimpy to me. Also the SD card is so close to the side of the shell, that I can't grip it with my fingers to pull it out of the slot. I've used small needle nose pliers to grab it. It's even more difficult to remove if the camera is already mounted up against a tree. I'm satisfied with the photo quality; however I've only tested in my yard and have not been able to place in the field yet unfortunately. I thought the daylight distance was phenomenal! The mounting strap is a little cumbersome and I think bungees might be better to use in place of the strap (for me). I really like how it vanishes on the tree once up. It looks like a knot on a trunk. I also like the low glow IR. I like the lock cable option, but I think one could snatch it without too much effort. I like the option of locking the bottom door too, but again it wouldn’t take much effort to get in, all you’d have to do is grab the lock and twist by hand. Almost nothing is theft or vandal proof, so I can’t knock it for those two design options though. Again, this is not the more expensive unit, but it would be nice to have the temperature and moon phase. Wish it had a 12 hour clock too, but that’s not a big deal. One question that I have is when you change out the batts; does it lose memory and need re-programming? I am not a trail cam pro at all, so if anyone has this cam and any tips or advice for me I would like to know. Thanks!

I agree with everything you said about the CA 4.0 and we are working on improving the design for next years cameras. When swapping batteries the time and date and settings will stay.

I bought the DLC Covert MP6 (Lost Camo) a few weeks ago. I put it in place of my Cuddeback Capture where I get the most deer activity. In 7 days, I had 1046 pics and all of them were identifiable. Not one blurred or Blacked Out pic. I posted a few of the daytime and nighttime pics here on under "Cam Check this morning" on 7/25. Pat has a couple on the DLC Covert Page on Facebook. For the money, you can't find a better trailcam with this many features. I have mine set to 5MP, take a pic every 30 secs and once an hour even if the sensor is not tripped. This is my first DLC and I will be buying at least 3 more in the next month. One word sums them up AWESOME!!
