I ordered a couple of DLC Covert 3.0 cameras. How should I set them up?

I am setting them up 6 hours from my house and won't be back to pick them up for 10 weeks. One will be set up on a trail from a swamp to a corn field. One will be set in a swamp or on a trail from a swamp to hay field. I only need pictures. Should I be concerned about picture quality? I'm just interested in when they are moving and what kind of bucks are there. How big of card do I need? What are the best batteries to ensure they last the whole time? Any suggestions on placement in the woods? I am new to the trial camera world. I tried it before with a Moultrie that sucked - battery died in a few days, only took a few pics (but lots of fresh tracks), they sent me a replacement and it didn't work any better. So, I had a bad taste in my mouth wasting time and money. Hopefully this time it will go much better.

    Thanks,
    Todd

A 4 should be plenty on trails as it will hold almost 4000 pictures

Any brand AA battery will last all summer for you without a doubt

Make sure to clear out all the weeds that could false trigger the cameras

Maybe set up a mineral site ? ?

I would set it at a 2 shot burst with 30 second delay :)

Good luck as trail cameras are addicting !

I am having much better luck with rayovac alkaline battery's since changing over from the coppertops, A good investment is a digital multi meter and check each battery before putting it out in the woods, gas cost to much to waste your time and trips on one bad battery.

I have had three bad moulrie cams with the same problems, still have 2 of them but at least i will never have that problem again. If i put them in the woods and someone was to steal them they would most likely bring them back... POS :D

    Todd,

Any updates on the Covert 3.0 cams you ordered? I'm looking at getting some myself. Are they what you expected?

    Thanks,

    Ttravler

I took them out to WI last week and set them up. I checked them after 3 days and had some pics - pretty awesome. I left them up and will check them late July or August. They do not have the option of 30 sec...only 1,2,3..min. I am excited to see the new pics. I might buy a couple more for around here.

covert 3.0 ca has adjustable delay including seconds

you just have to cycle through 60 mins before you get toa adjust the delay to say 10, 15, 30, 50 seconds (just realize that the actual delay may not be exactly what you choose - you may set for 20 sec delay and get 35 sec actual delay) ...also has a pretty narrow and short flash range, maybe 20-25 feet
