My last post on this until it is completely finished. Pics of what deer will see on aproach and then my views from windows.
So far an interesting new design. Total out of pocket cost. Tarp and screws ,staples and nails. Less than $50.00.
Everything else was salvaged and or repurposed materials on hand.

Nice! I bet it is a great view with fall foliage and sunrise. How far is your stand from the field edge?

Around 40 yard. I actually have stands a hundred feet from each side of the blind. I put them up years ago to play the winds. The deer travel on all sides of this and apparently still do. I found fresh tracks in a replanted trail plot I did last week. The turkey also travel this and roost near by...usually. This year they seem to have vacated the entire area ,here and across the street 3/4 of a mile away. Not sure if they were fed or the fishers drove them off.
I can't see the sun rise but the sun sets are pretty awesome.

Isn't that so true! But I looked at time...wouldn't have done me any good anyways...past noon. So suppose to rain Next 3 days and lows of 25 at night... This season will go down as it sucked.! If things don't change soon.

Basswood is noted for wood carving. If it is good, wood carvers and wood turners will line up to get some.

Yes I know and it is actually pretty rot resistant if naturally dried with the bark off. Good ones are left for timber and the dying and rotted ones get cut. Years ago the owner had a cut done. But age kept him from checking up on them . It was horrible! After we bought I had the DEC come in to do an assessment. What the forester said, " I have never seen anything like this. 40% damage on trees left standing should NEVER have happened"
All that has now resulted in rotting and dying trees. Also brought about disease in young ones.
BTW, Finally figured windows and set the door.

Not done yet, I'm just a tad busy..lol
Today though, no rain and I have the redwood scraped of peeling paint so I'm going out to paint the blind. The woods are shaded and cool great time to get it done. Once dry I'll install the last camo roof tarp, brace the legs to eliminate any wobble and set the final out side storm flaps. Then finishing the inside will be at my leisure.
Then comes the trail plot that deer run and turkey walk to get prepped. Roots to cut leaf cover to blow away lime to go down and disced in.small area that connects to two longer trail plots. One clover that drops to gully and the other 200 yrd plot I need to put in. Both those meet at a small opening a 100 feet away in front of the blind door. Both have full view of trails for rifle/ shot gun season and close enough for a cross bow shot on one trail and small opening

Got a bunch of the painting done. Brushed oil base and man the bare areas just soaked it up. It's a darker tan that really blends into the surroundings. I had an issue with original fabric order.
Amazon orders go through fast though I looked up company and ordered my solid colored fabric direct. Thank God I used Paypal because no matrerial and they refused all contact attempts. I had to have paypal intervene to get a refund. Well they carry the camo at a good price on Amazon so had to reorder camo through Amazon...hhhmmm lol and behold it shipped right away. Not pattern nor color I wanted but it will work just the same. Changing up how I'm doing windows on this blind. Pull up solid outer storms and pull down see through vinyls wind breaking interiors

Wow thatwas a chore but got the base paint done this a.m.. I forgot how much I hate oil based paints. PITA to clean up after. It will take a while to cure so I can install last roof cover on and secured.

What I got done today before I got swarmed. Deer flies and bees really bad! Didn't get side windows cut open because one end isn't fully tacked yet the door will get covered in the digital tarp and a window cut in. Changed my mind on window storms yet again. Other pics to show what it looks like from a distance. NEARLY DONE!! Oh. I will also be painting corners as trunks and sides in branches..oil base is still curing

So can't let a hot ,hot day go to waste. After dragging plots for planting I mixed up my paint and finished the paint job on the gypsy blind. Still have work to do on it but that painting was a major thing.Ill get pics later. So hot today!
