I can see if they are sponsored that they may have to show it, but yea I can see your point of it takes away from the animal. Until I get free stuff and a paycheck you'll just see me and my trophy in the pic, and maybe my bow to get some points hahaha
Because you disagree with my comment I don't understand the point of the thread? Whatever you say pal
Ha no just giving ya crap. I personally don't really like seeing anything but bows with the deer in the picture, but that I can definitely understand.
How so? We were talking about pictures? FYI, I am in favor of tasteful hunting photos and I do understand the point you are trying to make with the tread. But, I would argue that for most people hunting photos are not about respecting the animal but rather for their own vanity (myself included). If photos should be about only the animal then the hunter should not be included in the photo either should they?
I'll take a photo with product placement over a buck in the bed of a pickup truck with it's tongue hanging out and blood dripping from it any day of the week. I would venture to say I take anywhere from 200-500 trophy shots every time I kill a buck. I take them with different lenses on the camera and from different angles. Looking to get a few great pictures out of the bunch. I have a couple sponsors and am on a Prostaff. I take pictures with their product as well so they can use them for marketing if they so choose. Advertising and marketing a product in the traditional sense of the word is extremely difficult for the majority of these hunting companies as they are small businesses. Social Media and Prostaffs are the most logical and economical way for these small businesses to promote their product. The hunting industry is really no different than most others, product placement, sponsorship's and social media promotion are common place, we have just become a bit numb to it in those other areas because we have been seeing it forever there.
It is about pictures but should we ignore everything else because a deer thinks that shooting it is the least respectful? That's the way your post came off to me. An argument could definitely be made for leaving yourself out of the picture. That's for someone else to fight for. All I'm saying is can we just stick to the hunter, the deer, and the weapon of choice. Push all of your products in the story if you want to please the companies.
If you are sponsored by a camera manufacturer do you end up with your pictures being done in crayon because your camera is being displayed with the deer?
I don't find it disrespectful to have products that helped you harvest said animal if you are sponsored by them or trying to get sponsored by them. In the big scheme of things what difference does it really make what someone else does with their trophy picture. It don't unless you are the doosh bag that flex's over a dead animal like you where just in a cage match with it. Then that is disrespectful.
Hillary Clinton said the same thing about Benghazi. "The what difference does it make" thing made me chuckle... I must have stayed up to late watching baseball. lol! Carry on... :p
Is it disrespectful to call out posers and wannabes? Have you ever saw a picture of a buck and wondered what stand the guy used?
Prostaffers are probably covered under marketing dollars. The companies expect/have the Prostaffers effectively under contract. If get it you get tired of the marketing...look around you, it is everywhere. If it bothers you maybe you need to follow less corporations in your social media feeds.
I don't do social media and do not watch TV hunting or buy magazines for that exact reason, same reason I do not take part in website hunting contests.
The situation I explained is not everywhere. I've seen a lot of people take a picture with their deer and weapon, which is fine. What I'm talking about is having your deer as a display table for all of the gear.
