Does anyone use a disk/harrow behind your 4 wheeler for planting food plots. I would like to put in some food plots at one of the farms that I hunt at. The owner of the farm has some equipment but it is unreliable and it is very difficult to get a tractor to the fields that we would like to plant.

I'm looking at a Farm Star Disk/Harrow. Here is a link to one I am looking at.

    http://www.farmstar.com/product/is-pull.html

I can buy one of these for $550.

So, anyone with experience with type of disk, please chime in and let me know how effective it is.

I had one It worked OK at best. If your going to try virgin soil Good luck. It can be done but will take time and you will get a work out in the process. But it can be done mow first then round up wait a couple weeks then rip it up.

I get alot more use out of a spring tooth harrow. I made a one bottom plow for behind my atv to break the soil.

Can you post a picture of that? I've got something kind of like that that I'm trying to modify.

I had to put about 200 pounds of weights on mine to get it to cut good. It works ok if you run in circles.

I talked to a friend today about them and he offered too let me borrow his. I'm going to do that and if it works well I'll buy one. I'm not sure of the brand that he has but he said it works like a charm but you do have to go over it several times. But I don't have a problem with that. I'm only going to do about an acre total.

Depends on what part of the country you live in. They do good here in the South East. I wouldn't expect they would do much in the Mid West.
