I went turkey hunting yesterday and didn't hear a single gobble. Thinking it odd I quickly learned the stands of adjacent mature pines where the turkeys roost as well as swaths of deer bedding were now gone. Well at least shooting lanes will no longer be an issue, but I think the population of deer and turkey has moved at least temporarily. Disappointment. Sigh.
I feel you disappointment. In Virginia the older farmers/land owners are starting to pass on. As a result the kids/spouse sell the timber then sub-divide the property to pay the bills. Sad but I bet in the last 2 years I have seen over 1000s acres completely clear cut. Lots of that was woods that hunted as a kid.
I hate to see the next generations getting taxed right out of their properties and it seems to be happening nationwide right now.
