It will really depend on the speed of your bow, but mine drop barely at all at 20 and about 2 inches different at 30......That is out of an MR7 at 65lbs or so.
lumenok's have no way to fail like any others out there..no circuit to short out! and you can change the batteries!
Unlike other that can short as they have expose wire, or interference by magnet filed. Firenock main circuit is sealed with military grade UV cure epoxy. Firenock circuit is rated to be soak in blood for up to 8 hours and water up to 12 hours. Like all equipments, it is how you take care of it. Firenock your can field change the battery and the nock. Most customer and dealer have issue after one year as they have old batteries in it. Those 24K gold connectors and titanium wire are not there for looks, they are there to give you longevity. Many dealer after a few years stop carrying firenock as most only wanted battery and most do not stock fresh batter which cause a ton of problem. Most archery shop are not familiar with ultra low temperature (-17F) like the Firenock BR battery. It is all about how much you care about your customer and what you know about the product you sold. Most shop that no longer carry Firenock did not and/or will not take the time to learn about the options and limitation of our nocks and its accessories. That is unfortunate. I vividly remember one dealer told me to my face that Firenock is "too smart for his customer." The fact that they only have a 7-13 month shelf like is hard to manage from dealer point of view. The date start counting from the minute they are off the line from the factory. Most lighted nock will only last as long as the battery last as they cannot change the battery! Most use LiMN battery which at best will last 7-9 months, which explain what happen to Tracers. As for some other brand they use off the shelf LiF which should last about 3 years, but it stop working at 4F. For 2012, Firenock will offer 3 different batteries for the entire Firenock line. More detail after ATA 2012. Think -17F to +180F and shelf life exceed 5 years at 97.5% power base on the battery choice. On the precision and tolerance of nock, most really do not care as they do not shot pass 30 yard anyway. Do many design of lighted nock use other nock with no issue. Then get back to the subject of nock design and shooting drop. Why would anyone just plug one lighted nock and expect no difference. You would not shot a set of CS arrows with a few different brand of nocks. Just like tires, even they are the same size, it does not mean they perform the same. Material, nock throat design and actual six different did play a role in it. That is why every pack of Firenock comes with FOC match weight nocks. So you do not just change one arrow, but all your nocks that you shoot. And yes, if you are budget minded and do not shot far, Nocktunal are hard to beat base on price. If price is the only factor, and marginally working is all one need, we all would be shooting Wal-Mart special arrow with the cheapest bow that can sling an arrow at a deer. There would be no market and reason to have manufacture like Mathews, Hoyt, Bowtech bows and high end arrows Like Carbon express maxima and Gold tip Pro Hunters arrows. A side note, Firenock is the only lighted nock manufacturer that offer an lifetime unconditional refresh policy on our nocks. Firenock all the way.. Dorge has OUTSTANDING customer service also!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try returning a Lumenock after beating it for 2 years!! Good luck with that!
I've tried lumenok, and firenock before switching to nocturnal this year. The nocturnal definitely gets my vote. The others aren't even in the same category.
I'll be using firenocks the next time out. I purchased 6 of them last year and never got around to needing them. My last tracer nock died on a coyote this past weekend, watched it's last flash. The batteries for the firenocks are dated 8/10/10 and I put one in and it still worked. Can't say for certain it is as bright as a fresh battery would be, but I can say, uninstalled shelf life exceeds a year. As far as customer service, I haven't found better. I placed my order around 9 something at night. 5 minutes after placing it my phone rang and it was Dorge. He works from home I believe and seen the order come in, one of the nock colors I had ordered was sold out so he wanted to know if I still wanted to place the order. I was more concerned with visibility than color so he went through the brighter colors and modified my order. I also confirmed the size nock i ordered was correct for my arrow, H nock i believe. He answered all questions, and made sure i understood everything. To this date, I've never had another seller contact me about a product being unavailable. They process the payment and back order the item. The next night I accidentally called back the number trying to reach someone else, he was in a restaurant and still answered.
