^what he said^ When I bought the Drenalin in '09 when he it came out, the Shop Owner told me it would not be in until the day before Bow Season opened. He set up a loaner (Drenalin) for me to shoot until my bow was in. Once my bow came in, we switched all the accessories to mine, I shot it all day to make sure I was good and I was ready Opening morning.
Okay I can sympathize with you in that you were told one thing but got something different in the way of a timeline. However, I don't care how much people say you shouldn't buy and bam go hunting with a bow. Take the off season to get above proficient and know when you release an arrow unless something unforeseen happens you know where it is gonna hit. This takes more than a weekend at the range. When ordering any new product always realizes issues in stocking can back things up a touch, sucks but true.
Buying in season is risky. I won't ever cause any product shortage after they signed Ted Nugent and his child bride. Your shop is at the mercy of the mfg.
Not entirely true. Many of the "pros" that get bows early to test are given demo bows that were used for marketing purposes (photo shoots, commercial shoots, etc.) They certainly don't hold up dealer orders to give pros their bows before everyone else. In fact, when we put our annual order in (typically in Jan or Feb) we wait the same as everyone else. Some bows we get right away, some take 2 months. Now when it comes to actually making and shipping the bows they are going to make the most commonly ordered bows first so they can get stock into dealer hands. This means your RH Lost Camo 29/70 bows will be plentiful. However when you custom order a bow, just like anything in life, you wait a little longer than usual. Kind of like buying a truck - if you want to grab one off the lot you can drive it home that day. If you want a special color or interior package you may have to wait until more are made. What did you special order on your bow?
A lot of good points shared. Thanks for sharing your opinions. I have a good bow now and even if they had a LH Creed XS in stock I would be fine using my current set up and would not care to use there loaner. I have seasonal employment and currently have enough time on my hands to get a new set up dialed in to where I feel I could harvest a deer with an ethical shot. My point in posting is that I bought a product from a top 10 Mathews retailer 7 weeks before Christmas and was hoping to have it by now. I have been given no explanation and I guess this was my way of venting frustration with the line of command on my personal order. I guess I can now be labeled as "that customer", but honestly thought that my point is valid. 7-10 days past due around the holidays is one thing, 3 weeks is another.
The guy I tried to order my Chill'R from could not even tell me an approximate delivery date and didn't seem to really care about the order. I called another shop that's down in Miami and he had the Chill'R I wanted in a box in front of him. I ordered different strings and should get it by next week. So shop around. Bigger pro shops may already have your bow in stock.
It sucks being a lefty man... Lefties usually dont start shipping until a month or more after release. Like justin said, they get a bunch of RH 29/70s out the door and then move on to other orders. My dad ordered a Carbon Spyder turbo LH and wont see it till the beginning of February. Just part of being left handed, it sucks, but thats the way it is
Last year when I ordered my Creed I was told that it would be about 9 weeks. and that is what it took. I am satisfied with the bow and will not change from Mathews. I think they are in a different mode. Smaller shops get slower supply. Also, Mathews is looking at how much interest is in the bow prior to building them. Timing is everything.
thats a bummer man i would have lost it. 8 weeks geesh at least lie to me and tell me something can be done.
Smokey I like what you are saying and agree with your opinion. If they would have told me 8 weeks when I bought it I probably would have still ordered it. I think it is the best bow out there for me. I'd rather be told 8 and get it in 5 then 5 and get it in 8. I just think that is a customer service flaw. Still excited to get it.
Yeah...that would work. They were all Lost Camo I think. I know the price on them was like $899. Not sure if that is a good price though. I don't know how much they go for.
FOLLOW UP: I received my bow today (9 weeks total ship time/4 weeks late) My opinion of Mathews customer service is unchanged. When I told the retailer (who I have no problem with) that I expected better communication, he told me to call the factory direct. I called and honestly felt like the sweet lady was reading a script. I really was not feeling any sympathy and don't recall anyone actually saying they were sorry. Part of me feels like I am making a bigger deal out of this than necessary because of it being a newly released product during a holiday period, but the other part feels old school and that you should do everything possible to deliver as promised (and if you can't, over communicate to try and save the sale and the customers loyalty). RANT OVER-CASE CLOSED
So the 5 weeks was what Mathews said and not just what your dealer figured it would take? Also, Mathews would have a hard time talking directly to you. Did your dealer call or just wait? There's still a lot of factors here before you go remaining upset. I'm not defending Mathews because I don't have the facts and therefore I can't. I guess what I'm saying is that it most likely is the communication between your dealer and Mathews. In my experience, the dealer doesn't get too excited when thigns like this happen, but you are pumped and impatient to get your new bow. Enjoy the new bow man! Oh, and post pics or it never happened
The way it all went down was like this: I went in and shot their RH demo. Loved it! I'm a lefty so I kinda knew I'd have to order mine. I didn't want to rush my decision so I told them I would think it over. In casual conversation I explained that I was not happy with my current bow and was looking to upgrade and try to finish out the season with another. They shared with me that Mathews told them it would be 4 weeks on special order bows. I still thought it would be best if I waited. I came back a week later and shot the Chill R and Xs again. I decided then and there that the Creed Xs was for sure the bow for me. On this day I confirmed with them that they said it'll be 4 weeks for delivery. The owner called the Rep and was told 5 weeks. Handed them cash and went on my way. 5 weeks later I call and no bow. I waited a week and called again. The owner followed up with the factory and was told it will be 2 more weeks. Two weeks later (8 weeks now) still no bow. Im loosing interest in the whole deal now. The owner is picking up on my disappointment and offers his Reps #. I call and am put in touch with the factory that ends up telling me that the bow build is finished and will ship out the next day. 1 week later (9weeks total) I call the dealer, he confirms it arrived that day and I go pick it up. In a nut shell. I love the bow, but I am disappointed that Mathews didn't even care to call or send an email apology. Very poor level of customer service when you have no communication with the customer when you have an "at fault" problem. I only hope that I have no warranty problems. In my business, if I treated my customer that way I wouldn't have enough (= $$$) of them to justify buying their new bow. Thanks for the well wishes Indy. I will try to post a pic for you later. On a side note. A couple members recommended shooting all of the off season before hunting with a new bow. I disagree. After 2 days of getting the Xs dialed in, I am shooting 45 yrd groups that look like my old bows 20 yrd group.
