Heading Out This Afternoon Supposed to snow all afternoon, with the temps dropping from +11 to -4,maybe just maybe they'll start to move, going in the blind as the wind is from the NW @8 and my blind backs into the bush on the west side so I should be okay as the n wind will blow into my tent and through to dada land. Should be all right and I'll sit there all day tomorrow too to see what's moving, the chase should be on. Rocky
Pittman That's one fine buck guessing close to 170ish! Hopefully you can catch him during daylight hours. Rocky PS just heading out!
A doe finally got to close to me on the river bottom lease. Seen 14 this morning. 5 different small bucks. All walking--- none chasing. First time I have set this stand. East winds are hard to get Be back after them Thursday!
Rained all day and then @4 it started snowing, saw 6 grouse and the other guy hunting the same property as me wasn't suposed to be there today was in there with a quad so I guess he got something. Wish the idiot would have phoned and let me know he was tearing up the property with his quad. Piss pore attitude toward me as a hunter. I'd have never done that to someone else! Anyways I saw a big zero again, will sit all day tomorrow too in the blind,I want to shoot one out of it. Then I get to the blind and notice it was moved. Farmer cleared 30 feet of the point off of the bush including the scrape that was 20 feet from the blind. Least he didn't steel the blind, but he did crush my MP8 I got from Covert 2 weeks ago . So I didn't even get to see how it worked! Oh well there's always another day!. Oh yeah Bonehead Hunter, congrats on the doe another 50 points for the team! Rocky
Rocky that sucks.. hope your luck takes a turn:-) They are calling for high winds later this week when I'm off hope they aren't to bad or I'll be limited to the ground blinds
Hunted Friday through Sunday afternoon. Saw plenty of deer but only doe and small bucks. There was a bunch of chasing going on yesterday in the woods. Finally got cold weather and its picking up. I have work and home priorities today and tomorrow but will be out for a full day on Wednesday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just changed my vacation to Tomorrow and Wednesday. I hate to do it but don't like the prospect of hunting in high winds...
Thought I'd share some of the successes on the lease this past week. Young ladies first bow buck. A buck they call IOWA because of his size This buck was war torn from sparring! Decent 10.
What a f'd up morning. Got in early and was setup well before sunrise. I had a NW wind and after a very quiet sunrise at 8am I heard a noise over my right shoulder and downwind of me at 15 yards is a great 150" buck. He is directly downwind of me and on high alert. As I turn he is focused right on me. He puts his head down for a second and gave me a chance to grab my bow. As I start to turn my body I reach for my release hanging on my d-loop and it falls off bangs off the metal stand and down to the ground. I have grabbed that release thousands of times and this was the first time I ever dropped it. Needless to say he was gone in a flash. Got down and searched everywhere and can not find the release. I am feeling so sick to my stomach right now. Guess I need to get over it and go shopping for a new release. This sucks!
Actually I am pretty sure that he is one of the biggest if not the biggest buck on the property. Really hope I get another shot at him.
I am going to leave that area alone for a few days now that I scared the crap out of him. And I have to get to the store and get a new release anyways.
I am sure it did but still has to be within 5 yards or so of it. Going to go check cameras and look for it one more time Thursday morning.
If I don't find it Thursday I will do that after the season ends when I go pull my stands and just buy a new one for now. Guess if I do that then it turns up a spare would be a good thing anyways! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought I wanted a release that I could clip on the string but you've convinced me otherwise. Sent from my miracle pocket communication device.
