Hey Hey Hey After not being able to draw my bow the last 2 seasons ,I was able to today. Such a nice feeling, don't have to buy a crossbow. Shot 5 rounds of 3 ,15 arrows and my shoulder could feel it, the last 3 were in the bulleye @ 20 yards. Now I need to get steady and check my other distances. The 20 was dead on, whew, might hunt Tuesday night. I'm on cloud nine, I can actually hunt with out not knowing if I'd be able to draw on the animal. I lost a lot of FPS dropping down to 50lbs, shooting 233 with everything on, I used to kill shooting at 189 with my 1st bow ,a Bear set @70 pounds. The drop doesn't worry me ,man is the bow quiet! I'll get 'er done. Rocky
Went with the Red Head blackout blind X77 from Bass Pro. On sale right now for $139. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ferg What's your out look on hunting out of blinds? Do the deer actually come close? Shooting through the mesh, how's that for broadheads? I realize they need to be bushed in too, is scent a big concern out of a blind? I think I would be claustrophobic in one!! Rocky
Shot Again Today Shoulder only allowed me 7 shots today, 6 of them were bullseye's. Pissed that I only could pull 7 times, but that should be expected after not drawing for 2 years and a Rotator Cuff tear! STILL. Temps are dropping from 26 today down to 4 for Tuesday night. Where I'll sit, will be in a area that I can only shoot 15 yards max. We have anyone hunting yet besides me? Rocky
Matt I can ,but it's @53 max right now and 233 fps. I can't think of lowering it anymore, I've had a ton of deer jump the string @ 300fps but it's totally quiet now, should be okay Matt. I'm not worried about him jumping the string and he will I believe if I lower it anymore! I'll be okay I just have to make sure I don't over do the shooting. If I can't draw then I can't over shoot Rocky
Alright so hard to keep track with so many guys on the team but how much longer does everyone have till opening day or you will be out hunting? October 1st for me!
I would be more worried about reps than trying to be concerned what the draw weight actually is. Therapy for that shoulder is going to all about light weight reps. I would be concerned about only being able to shoot a handful of times on a blustery and cold November morning when you're bundled up. Just my humble opinion but you can most definitely kill on less weight with the right arrow and broad head. Glad to hear you're at least able to shoot some! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We have one guy on this property that has done very well out of a blind almost every year. Hunting out of them doesn't bother me really but would still rather be in a tree Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Still gotta put up a buddy stand for me and the boy.. I have most of my stuff ready to go, practice climbed a few times in the new Lone Wolf. Been shooting my bow and not super happy with my groups, but a deer wont like them. Still gotta pick up my tags and should be ready to go!
10/1 for me. Got two more stands to get in this Saturday on the new river bottom place. Kinda late getting them in, but just finished. Getting them refurbed with new seats yesterday.
Its just the way it is for Firefighters/Paramedics. We dont get paid enough to work just one job. It'll be a lifelong thing.
Rocky, i was excited to see were teammates this year. I think both bucks are 4. I have pictures of them last year as 3 year olds. This is the big 9: The big 8: And here's the biggest buck around, an 11 point. Our friends found both of his sheds last year on our property. Very nocturnal and smart old deer though...rut is the only chance.
