I'm going out Sunday morning & taking one of my daughters, 5yr & 8yr old, they are trying to decide who goes first. I hope they'll be quiet & still for 2 hours, we'll be in a ground blind so don't really expect to see a buck but this time of the year you never know. It'll be fun daddy daughter time.

Well guys I had high hopes of knocking something down today as I have deer all over one of my cameras around 10 to 12 but I came home last night to a leaking ceiling in my downstairs bathroom so I had to fix the leak today and couldnt get out...not happy to say the least Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
OK - I did spend dark to dark in the woods. Saw a few small doe. No buck but, the woods is looking good. The spot I'm in is more of a transition area. I expect as the bucks get to chasing them a bit, I'll see them and be in a good position. Cheers and good luck everyone!
Just getting a chance to post an update from Sunday. I took my 5 1/2yr old daughter with me & setup in a ground blind. She passed the time on the iPad & about 7:30 we had 2 doe walking straight to us. They got to 25yds behind some trees & people staying at the cabin came out slamming the house & car doors. Even though it was 80yds through the woods the doe didn't like & turned & walked away from us. 7:45 I see someone walking slowly through the woods carrying a 22 rifle. I whistle hoping they would see the ground blind & walk away from us, no luck. I unzip the door & stand up whistling & waving hoping they don't shoot in our direction, he finally sees me but rather than walk away he comes & wants to talk to us, GREAT!! He was the nephew of the property owner. He was a very loud talker! After all the commotion I told him we were going to walk around & leave. My daughter wanted to stay in the blind longer but I told her with all the loud talking & moving around we wouldn't see anything else. So I grab my bow & gear & we start walking the trail to the truck, I look back up the trail from where the doe had walked & there stands a decent 8pt walking the path that would've given me a 25yd shot. I tried to sneak down the trail for a 30yd shot but he saw me & ran off. My daughter looked at me & said "I told you we should have stayed in the tent" I agreed! Haha! It was a great morning & a lot of fun for her. I'm taking my 8yr old daughter this weekend. Should be a good time to be out the scrapes are getting hit hard.
Good Luck hammerman! I'm heading out for an all day sit right now.The farmer at a place we hunt ocasinally found 2 locked bucks.a 12 and a 16 point.both were 160+ . Cool to see but too bad they wont be around to hunt
Well baring any unforeseen problems at work today, (fingers crossed) I'll be leaving for IL. around 11 this morning. Hopefully I'll have good news sometime next week. It's go big or go home for me. Hopefully I'll get a Monster then a doe. Good Luck to everyone this weekend and next week!
Well, I was all set to get up early this morning for an all day sit only to be woken up at 2:00 am by the sound of one of my kids vomiting. Needless to say, I spent the rest of the night/morning taking care of her. That has been the story of my season so far this year.
Hey all...sorry I haven't been around. I get a little carried away this time of year. Nothing new to report. Been at it hard and have a couple shooters on cam but have not seen in person yet. Hopefully soon, it's that time.

Yesterday wasn't a good day. We get to the farm & the wind had changed from the forecast & we hd to move the ground blind. I didn't really expect to get a shot on anything where we had to setup. A SSE wind is bad when hunting this farm from a ground blind. My 8yr old had fun & that was the main thing. I did let her rattle once & 5min later had a small 8pt come in to 60yds but once he saw the ground blind he took off. I'll be at it Thursday - Saturday this week.
back at it again at first light. seen quite a few deer, havent had a shot tho. today will hopefully be the day.
Done ! Buck down ! 24 yard shot on a nice 8 pointer at 7am. He ran 30 yards, dove into a river n died before the splash settled. I went swimmin n recovered him. Pics comin soon. Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
