3/7/09 Well no sheds today but me and my son Dalton had some good weathjer to take advantage of 70's :d Dalton did find a small Dead head, his first bone for the season. I found a very old skull, it had a burr on one side with the antler busted off and nothing on the other side  I did find something very rare here in Indiana,, I was walking across a small bridge between two large bodys of water, there is a small ditch that ties them together and a beaver dam in the ditch. I looked down just as I reached the other side of the ditch and seen something dead laying on the bank. Of all things it was an Otter. They are extinct in Indiana but in the last five years or so the DNR have released some to try and get them started here again. It did not have any bullet holes, and as far as I know no one has trapped in this spot thats on our lease. Ill report to the DNR Monday. Of all things, my son was wearing an Otters T shirt

Neat find on the otter. We tend to find a few dead mink and a beaver on occasion. No otters here. They are a good sized critter. Thanks for sharing !! Interesting to say the least.

Well my sons best buddy Jamond had a wonderful weekend at our house. I had to work all weekend so they were on there own. They spent the last two days Bass fishing and Shed hunting and caught ALOT of Bass. Jamond even managed a 6 lb one and they released all of them  Dalton, My son, text me when i was enroute home that Jamond had found a small Shed, I thought COOL. I pulled in the driveway, out they walked with the small Shed then Jamond pulles out the big boy from behind his back :d "suprise" WOW!! Dalton was walking right toward it, they heard a truck pull up and Dalton Hesisated to see who it was, Jamond continued and found the big guy where Dalton was headed,,They laughed about it :d They found it about 500 yards from where I found the Big matched set. It was in a woods that i was thnking about hunting next week when i was off :deer: Any way, these are two awesome kids, Dalton is 16 and Jamond is 15. They are 100% outdoorsmen and just cant get enough of it. Im proud that my son has a buddy with this mindset.
Given the other side is the same and a 16" spread it will be a 140 class buck as a basic 8. One thing my area is strong in, is the brow tine dept. This one sports a 7" G-1. I have a Shed from same property that has a 9" brow.
    I taped it out at 62 7/8"

Took my son and his best bud out yesterday 3/22/09 We had a good day as all three of us found bone. My son was first with an old dead head that had the most of the skull missing.
Then i got lucky and found a nice shed that had the tip of another bucks tine had broke and embedded in some hide under the burr. MY field picture got accidently deleted :bash: I texted it to buckey, so he has seen it :d

Then Jamond scored on a nice 2.5 dead head with no brows.

My sons latest find from last week, another dead head. I missed this one last season, so did he and my other son. I missed it this season to :d It was where there is usually water laying in the woods and it kinda semi dried up so Dalton went in deeper and found it.
