I have a little dilemma I needing your thoughts on. I bought a bow a few years back, I initially started with CX200 arrows. As a new shooter as expected I increased my draw weight. Within a short time I was shooting Maxima 350s. 2 years ago now I had a shoulder injury and as result i have permanent nerve damage in my drawing arm. I am now finally able to shoot again though I have decreased in draw weight quite a bit. At current I am back to about 55# and 27.5" arrows. After breaking a few arrows over the year I am needing to pick up another set. So here is the dilemma I am at the top end for the cx200 and the bottom end of the 350s. However currently I am shooting better with the smaller arrow cx200 than I am the 350's. I am at a point where I am solid at the 55# but probably could increase that "though it will be some work". Is it for feasible to stay at the lower weight and the better shooting arrow size, or should i get the larger arrows as the benefit lays in the heaver draw weight assuming i will shoot the heavier arrow better with the increase? If it matters I am looking at Beeman ics hunters 400 or 500
Correct me if i am wrong but if your arrow is already under spined wont adding overall weight- even if its the point- make the problem worse? My advise is go heavier. i was in your same boat right at the line between Easton Axis 400s and 340s i ended up going heavier just because from everything ive read and people ive talked to they say over spined is better than under. Plus you will gain a little weight which will equal more KE. If you do go heavier i would also try 125 grain heads or some sort of weight adding insert to up your FOC. I went up to 125g heads just to try them on my heavier set up and it tightened up my groups considerably. Keep in mind you will loose some speed but if you plan on upping your poundage you should still be within the parameters of the arrow. there's my .02 hope it helps some. -Alex
Yes you are correct. My thoughts were to go with the stiffer spine and add tip weight if required. This would allow for greater flexibility if he decided to increase draw weight down the road. So we are in agreement, but my post was poorly written.
