Sent you, Gary, Rob, Bob, Matt and a few others an email yesterday before I posted T. I guess everyones out hunting lol.
WAY TA GO DIESEL!! Congrats man, that's a FINE buck!! Man, that fires me up, I'm inspired now!! Man that's awesome. Got back from another weekend yesterday. Yeah...Uhhhh, I saw 1 freaking deer all weekend. It's just so damn hot. It was 92* saturday. I sat next to a waterhole......nothing. Sunday morning I sat in a little funnel between bed and feed and had 1 little ole doe walk by. That's it. Frustrating. But, the good news is....it's cooling off this week. Only 74 out there now, and by this weekend mid 60's. And, the river has been down long enough, so as long as I have the right wind I'll be able to slip into my river bank set. It may be a week or so early yet, but it's low impact enough that with the right wind I can get in and out and they'll not know I was there.
Well fellas......I FINALLY have the perfect weather to hunt my very best spot. The wind is perfect, and as far as being winded is concerned, it's fail proof. They simply CANNOT get downwind of me. It's a tight funnel along the river, and I always see deer there in the mornings. I'm headed out this evening, and I'll hunt...But mostly I just want my stand in place for the morning. We'll see how it goes I guess. Good luck to all this weekend!
Youre welcome T, and go get em Mo!!! Sounds like you have an awesome ambush set up!! As Tony, and Gary (if he checked his email) already know, I shot a real nice 10 pt this morning, but not with a bow. Saving my last MD bow buck tag for when the rut is in full swing because thats when we get those glimpses of the real monsters roaming our woods.
Man that stinks Gary, no other way to change stand set up for the East wind?? Im seeing lots of buck activity, things should start heating up real fast.
My issue is I hunt a penninsala, the river surrounds my entire property. Yes I have stands, but I have no corn. IF I had corn in the front of the farm life wood be good. All the cover is in the back, I need a west wind to hunt the back of the farm. I cannot get to it with an east wind, I will blow by scent in one of two bedding areas. There is no way around it.
North is almost straight up. When the wind blows out of the west I take my boat and get behind the deer. I catch them walking between the two CRP fields. East wind I am stuck in the front, with 0 food
Ahhh I gotcha, yeah thats a real bummer. Thats a kick ass lookin property Gary. The fun time is not even here yet so no worries Gman, youve got good hunting just ahead bro. Hopefully the wind will start to cooperate for you
